We take it for granted, but the fact that LeBron survived essentially being a teenage star, and not only surpassed all the hype on the court, but has come out as a seemingly pretty norma and good dude, is absolutely freaking amazing.
@Lootroq
@Lootroq 6 жыл бұрын
It's truly more impressive than his actual career. Child stars RARELY turn out normal and if they do to any extent it's because they petered out somewhat young and returned to a more normal life.
@JackMorel
@JackMorel 5 жыл бұрын
Well, ya know, lebron spent his childhood surrounded by trainors and he was working as hard as he could to be the best. He had to start from almost nothing and earn it all. Unlike child stars who are surrounded by yes men and don't do nearly as much work in a day as lebron did in like 2 hours even as a 15 year old. So i think thats a part of the reason for why he's humble.

@@billybones6463 I am very intrigued by what could become of LeBron and his superteam with Maverick Carter and Rich Paul. Has something like that ever existed before in sports? Look at all the people in the media who are there because they started out essentially with LeBron from high school or have earned their money talking exclusively about him.

Deli God I think that, plus getting deep into the playoffs after his first few years, plus being able to average 27 every year (his career ppg is top 5 or 10 in NBA history) as a player without a mastered perimeter/post move, and being hailed as one of the best forward passers ever is what puts him on Mount Rushmore. He also did all of this without upper tier/experienced coaching. If he had a good coach/system and a good culture it's feasible that he could be even greater, as he's basically a Tim Duncan-level on-court coach. The guy has his faults, though. He shrinks like no other superstar under pressure, and has not evolved out of it completely as his career has progressed (you can see him getting better, but not good enough to truly say he's either clutch or the guy at the later stages of games). He has been in the league 14 years, and has not developed his free throw shooting, or mastered any perimeter/post scoring moves (honestly I don't knock him as much as I used to for this, as his athleticism hasn't dropped off that much yet, and he might be a "big" in the sense that shooting is a difficult skill for him to master). He has also been in a very weak conference for some time now, and even though its impressive he hasn't let any lesser competition beat him over this span, it also begs the question of would he still be as dominant and able to carry his team to the finals every year if he were in the West.

Me too. I've come to realize that he won't have as a good a resume as some other all time greats (Jordan, Russell, Kareem, Magic), but for me that's all secondary. The fact that he didn't crumble under all the scrutiny and criticism and pressure he had faced for his entire career (literally from the jump) for me is why I'll always respect him. I can remember my elementary gym teacher telling us 5th graders who were so excited to see LeBron play in his first NBA game that he'll be a bust and that he'll be ass. I agree, especially now with social media it can be really hard, every website has a comment section and most of them a filled with hate comments. There are always a shitload of people that are quick to judge and exagerate every little thing someone does or says. Some retired players, including Isaiah Thomas from the Pistons bad boys age, who were considered to be tough guys, said how hard it is nowadays and that they admire how Lebron is able to thrive even with all that social media pressure and hate.

I used to be what some would consider a "Lebron Hater", though most of it came from him playing for a team that would always meet my favorite team (The Celtics) in the playoffs. But anyway, I'm here to say that LBJ is probably one of the most unappreciated great players the NBA has ever seen. I've come to a point where, yes maybe you won't see me go out and buy an LBJ jersey, but this guy deserves so much respect than what some people give him! We are witnessing one of the greatest player of this generation, and instead of enjoying his career, people throw so much dirt on his name! This timeline is just a a glimpse of his unique, dynamic, and great career.

How funny that LeBron got criticism piled on him for not beating Paul Pierce, Ray Allen, and Kevin Garnett. When he's 23-years-old and going to battle with Mo Williams and Anderson Varejao. I've said it once I'll say it a thousand times. I don't care what legend you pick. If you're the '03 Cavs and you take MJ or Kobe or whoever else, they're not taking them to a title. People love to discredit LeBron when throughout his career he has elevated mediocrity to very high levels. Not everyone gets a Scottie Pippen or prime Shaq. LeBron had to go out of his way, to Miami, to get the Robins to his Batman. And look what Cleveland did without him, they were the worst team in the league. LeBron had to leave so Cleveland could bomb so he could come back when they actually managed to get some talent. LeBron James is the most talented human being to ever play basketball point blank period. If you want to discredit him for not winning as many rings or for failing, go on ahead. But LeBron is just the best. He'll be the all-time leading scorer, a top 5 all time passer, and he's going to do it as a 6'8" 260 pound pass-happy point forward. Pretty outstanding.

I still don't understand why those salty CAVS fans burned Lebron's Jersey's way back 2011. And then when he came back, suddenly changed their mood. Not really a fan of LBJ. But he deserves/ed respect. Worst NBA fans for me: less class. 1.OKC 2.CAVS

Despite his clutch moments as a youngin against the Wizards, they said what they said, and I'll be damned it all manifested. They wanted what Skip use to call a "walk off shot" that wasn't a layup. They wanted a jump shot from what Skip called the Greatest Driver Ever going to the hole. Until he had no choice but to confront those demons. Even though they got him on the ropes(Mavs, Boston Game 5 the next year), he FLAMED them all to keep his legacy in tact. 45, 15, 5(Boston)+ 3-1 Comeback(GS) = STFU!

Lebron is a complete success story, man grew up so poor his mom couldn't afford to raise him, he stayed with ten to 11 different people before he was even 16 and yet everybody assume he had trainers at his beckon cal from day one man said it was time he didn't even know if his mama was alive and somehow "fans" think all he cared about was basketball from day one. Y'all couldn't dare walk LeBron's shoes. Only billionaire athlete who grew up in the projects u can think of at the top of their head. Only billionaire who grew up in a single parent household u can name. Give that man his flowers. Somehow he didn't work hard to be skilled but Curry and Kobe somehow did even tho they BOTH have NBA dads. Only top star who dealed with social media era. Kobe barely tasted it, Jordan didn't taste it and neither did Magic or Bird. Bron the greatest ever, Period
