Thanks! Not like this guy! Like many others out there I had my cocking handle break off of my hk91. I got the larger handle for it and sadly it sat around for a while. I was doing work on rifles today and decided I would go ahead and swap it out. I had heard it was a pain to do as some of the springs are very frustrating. Mine was not the case. My pin would not come out for the life of me and decided to break one of my bostich punchs. I started out punching it with a rubbler mallet. I didn't wanna take a chance messing up the finish on such a nice rifle. In the end I was making viking battle noises as I smashed the punch over and over to finally have the pin pop out. I was shaking with a bit of rage out how such a simple little thing could present me with such a hard time. I cooled off for a bit not wanting to attempt the spring work with shaking hands came back to it and the rest of the project went fast and easy. So if anyone else is going to change out to a 21 or something similar I strongly suggest you grab some break free or wd 40 and give it a good spray down before you attempt it. Also make sure you are working in a clear area that when you do finally making that killing blow it doesn’t fly far far away. Any who pics or it didn't happen. You will see my little hk91 with the new larger handle and the busted old one. And a shot of the rifle with some of his younger brothers all of which got some type of treatment today so sorry only the noveske got to keep its glass on.

@TheBrackishCoast

No, it should not. The little nub at the end of the charging handle slot should sit in a recess in the handle. Kinda locks it in place when folded.

@@TheBrackishCoast is there a piece that goes in between the cocking handle Mount and the carrier? I can't find it in the diagram anywhere but I recall there was a piece . it was cracked and I lost.
@TheBrackishCoast
@TheBrackishCoast 6 ай бұрын
@@danquartullo8677 I was referring to the nub permanently affixed to the cocking tube. The spring tension on the handle causes the handle to engage the nub and stay in place. The cocking lever assembly consists of the piece inside the cocking tube, spring, pin and handle. Is your spring missing from the lever assembly? That could cause this issue.

Does anyone know why when I install my extended charging handle on a PTR91, it bends up the charging handle spring and never gives much return power? I've had an issue with The rifle not locking up in battery and it looks like the charging handle never pivots away from the 90° unlocked position and essentially slams on the piece at the end of the cooking tube.

+TheBrackishCoast like after I shoot a mag....I swing out the charging handle and when I go to pull it back to lock it in the notch to hold it open. ..it won't even pull back at all...unless I really hit the handle back with an object....so when you pull the little charging handle out...does that unlock the bolt group or something? I just ordered a new charging handle from HK parts....hopefully it will fix the problem. ...because the bolt carrier looks good to me...
@TheBrackishCoast

Mine was the same way. Thats one of the reasons why I put the HK21 charging handle on it. Its starts unlocking the bolt rollers as the lever swings out and finishes when initially pull on it. The gun is most likely just tight. Somewhere around 500-750rds mine loosened up. Yours likely will too. Good luck.
