I think my favorite things is the fact that Kirstie did the whole thing with her eyes shut, knowing that Scott's hand would be in the right place for her when she reached to clap it.

I can’t imagine how difficult it must be to do that percussion and sing at the same time. Great performance.

Actually it's quite the opposite - the rhythm with their hands is holding and helping them with the song. Wonderful performance......

I love this cover. I’ve noticed comments about this not being a Christmas song but symbolically I think it captures elements such as shed blood, white as snow, walking with weariness but determination. I see how this can relate to our Savior Jesus Christ and when we follow him we’ll have our own cross to bear.
@jazzitupabit299710 күн бұрын
Hey! I love that interpretation:) Great insight into this. I’m thinking of trying to do this with my elementary 5th grade kids for this upcoming Christmas Music Program! I believe that we could make the percussion part more on their level and keep it at two part harmony which still on that level would be a good performance :)

Guess I'm quite slow as today is the first time I've heard of this group. They are the most talented group I've seen, being able to make instrumental sounds to accompany their voices since the Mills Brothers did that back in the 40's. They are amazing!

Agree. It's partly bc it's a capella, but also bc Pentatonix uses pitch correction, even on live recordings. Pitch correction has that effect, it makes the music sound mechanical and soulless.

I was following the pack, all swallowed in their coats With scarves of red tied 'round their throats *To keep their little heads from falling in the snow* And I turned 'round and there you go *And Michael, you would fall and turn the white snow red* *As strawberries in the summertime* Kind of morbid for a Christmas/winter song, imo. And it gives me two thoughts. 1. Someone singing this to their kid before bedtime, and, the next day, the kid saying he had a nightmare about it. 2. Someone telling a shrink about having nightmares about the song, and the shrink telling him he's been listening to it too many times, and he's losing his head.
@casperbetz194910 ай бұрын
Thanks for sharing your innermost brain farts. Nobody ever said it was a Christmas song, or specifically suited for children. This is from a Christmas tour, which basically means it happens in November/December. A lot of fairy tales have more explicit descriptions of violence in them than this, though, come to think of it. Good luck with not having nightmares.
