The NHS in England has been "broken" by years of Conservative-led governments, and its current state is "unforgivable," Sir Keir Starmer told the BBC. In his first major interview as Prime Minister, he said a review set to be released on Thursday finds recent changes to the NHS were "hopelessly misconceived."
Starmer blamed austerity and the Conservative government's pandemic response for leaving the NHS in a dire state. He also noted that a review by Lord Darzi would show many children are being let down by the health service.
