Filmed about a year ago but i found this on my computer. So cringe worthy but I make some good points. Crazy to see how different I am to what I was..

I know this was 6 years ago but thank you for sharing your story. I am going through the early stages of recovery in hospital and your videos have been a welcomed help. God bless you and I am thankful for what you do x

You’re lucky you had nice dietitians always. My home hospital ones are plain mean. Fortunately my outpatient and my dietitian out of province in residential were great.

I think you explained it really well Bree. Just one tip (I don't know no need to know if it's any help). When it comes to private health insurance you mentioned the $500 excess: there are two things you can do to avoid this high charge. N. 1 if you know that you will be going into hospital in the next 12 months, it is worth increasing your insurance - I know it's a LOT of $$$$ (I have no option but the private system - as I have complex medical issues, mini completely unrelated to ED - but I was anorexic to the point of close death yrs ago). If you know you're going to be paying whether it be $250 excess or $500 it often works out a bit cheaper to increase your premiums: obviously this needs to be done ahead of time. Your video was informative: concise and well done. By the way beautiful, I'm so proud of you. I'm seeing you in hospital in January, to now with no NG tube, and hopefully eating. Keep up the good work - I know it's hard. But keep smiling! ⭕️❌⭕️🌹💐🌸🌺🌈

Not sure where you are or what health cover you have, but most do not wave the $500 fee for a private admission to mental health or eating disorder clinic. I have the highest cover available and I still need to pay that. If you do know of a specific health insurance company or package within Australia that does wave these fees or cover them please let us know because that would save so many people I know, myself included, a lot of money

Personally my experiences are: Public: +Often much easier and faster to get into -Most are not eating disorder specific and the mental health units can be very violent places as many detoxes seem to take place in mixed psyc wards. -You can not pick your doctors, so if you get a shit one, you are stuck with them. +Most will happily work up a meal plan to fit your needs, kitchens are often able to make something outside of the menu +Once you leave should you need ongoing physical support the dietitian department will provide you with boxes of free supplement drinks (rather then you paying $5 per x6 a day) -You often have shared rooms and communal bathrooms -Activities groups are often lacking -Drugs and drinking go on in them daily Private +Single rooms upon request (with the exception of some eating disorder clinics which will require sharing for a certain amount of time) +Private bathrooms (again with the exception of eating disorder clinics and your specific eating disorder) -The cost of the health insurance -Cost of extras on health insurance (things like eating disorder treatment are not covered by many unless you are a top cover or pay for that as an extra) +Programs and activities are usually offered and cover a wide range of helpful tools in all aspects of mental health. -The hospital looses money after you have been in for a set time so they often push you to go home and come back which can be damaging in recovery
