Fr. Calvin Robinson is the person that led me back to God. He is absolutely right that it is okay for preachers to stay protected within the church walls but it is better to go out and spread the message. He is definitely that preacher, most treasured for his brave heart. As the saying goes: Ships in the harbour are safe, but that is not what ships are built for. God bless you Fr. Robinson 🙏

Do you believe the Bible is the inerrant Word of God? Matthew 23:9 And do not call anyone on earth ‘father,’ for you have one Father, and he is in heaven. Now Jesus does not mean no one may refer to a parent as "father." He is specifically addressing the practice of referring to religious leaders and mentors as "father" in any formal or official sense. What's forbidden is an attempt to give one of Jesus' followers a spiritual status above that of others.

@@paulwells4372 We Orthodox Christians believe in the Bible and in the holy Church tradition, too. According to Church tradition, we call priests 'fathers' from the very early period of Christianity. Did you call your dad, Father or dad? Surely Christ did not mean to stop calling fathers: Father. However, we can understand Him to mean not to put any Father on the same level as our Lord God in heaven; our reverence for God the Almighty Father is distinguished from honoring man. If I'm not mistaken this is shown in the Aramaic text.

If I were an American I would buy all the audio materials produced by father Josiah. The price is too low for America. But it is too high for the Ukraine which has become one of the poorest countries in the world since 2022. Nonetheless, I have bought some of them. And I plan to buy them all with the lapse of time. You are lucky Christians because you have the opportunity to listen to such wonderful lectures by father Josiah. This is a gift from God for you.

Vast contrast to the broadway show that is going on in some churches today. Please know, my spirit felt this conversation. There is a move back to identifying ourselves not as charismatics or Pentecostal or even as Catholics but rather as Christ-followers; Christians. Thank you.

@aaronwolf4211

And he is probably where he needs to be and where God has called him to be for the time being because there are Anglicans who need someone who thinks and speaks like them to call them back to Truth and repentance. Then from there God will move them into Orthodoxy. But someone with this much of an Orthodox phronema that is not Orthodox will not remain outside of Orthodoxy for long, especially when they find themselves standing alone more and more often.

" ... In fighting retail, they lost wholesale ... " Tacitus ( On the Celts ) Irish Catholic born and bred. Orthodox by choice in 2018. Best spiritual decision of my life. Wish I had done it sooner. One of the things that covid did was bring into clear resolution who was a true shepherd and who was not. True Christians were aghast at the Western Church: the leadership simply rolled over, and played dead, to the secular authorities. They did everything in their power to make Satan happy and not God himself. Awesome collaboration. More of this is needed. Goid Bless.

I'm sorry to hear so many people with no experience of how to act during an epidemic. So many plagues throughout history and no one bothers to see that being careful not to spread viruses actually prevents viruses from making people die in large numbers. Look back at the Plagues in Byzantium if you are Orthodox. God does not prevent the spread of viruses. They are not the work of the Devil. That is one of his current deceptions and it does not belong in the Church. "The Devil appears as an angel of light" Look it up

@@vorynrosethorn903 forgive me, but who cares what you or I think? You say "I would not" call them a Christian. Who are you? Why does your opinion matter? Who am I? My opinion doesn't matter either. The unanimous witness of the Saints of the Orthodox Church for the last 1000 years has been that Roman Catholics and then the Protestants who branched out from them are not members of the Body of Christ. You can't say you respect the Orthodox Church if you believe all of its Saints were in gross delusion about this issue. This is not to judge the state of the souls of any of the individuals who are in these groups. We don't judge Roman Catholics or Protestants or Muslims or Hindus or anyone. But it is a fact that none of these people are members of the Body of Christ. Roman Catholics and Protestants can desire Christ, they can seek to follow Christ and be very sincere in this. But they are not united to Christ in His Body.

We need more Apostolic fathers to come together and evangelize. We can have a very interesting time watching disagreements and discussion, something I believe could reunite the One True Universal Church of Christ. I am a Catholic who attends the Tridentine Mass (Traditional Latin Mass) and I would love to see more vibrant voices. Great conversation - does Orthodox and Anglicans have the sacrement of confession ( reconciliation )as well ?
@leenieledejo6849
@leenieledejo6849 11 ай бұрын
The "sacrament of confession" is blasphemous. Jesus died, suffering the punishment of sin in our place (Romans 6:23, John 3:16) in order to reconcile us to God. Anyone who puts their trust in Jesus and follows him is forgiven, the burden of sin is lifted, they walk in newness of life (Ephesians 2:1-2, 2 Corinthians 5:17 etc) and are RECONCILED TO GOD (2 Corinthians 5:17-20, Romans 5:10-11, Ephesians 2:16, Colossians 1:20-22). Romans 6 (the whole chapter), John 8:34-36 & 1st John 3 also explicitly say that we no longer sin. And so "the sacrament of Confession" is wrong on many levels and is typical of the RCC usurping God, rebelling against the Word of God and despising the work of Christ.

Yep. Where’s all the pearl clutchers about the ecumenism, or maybe that only matters when it’s someone a person doesn’t like?

@@retro-orthodoxThis isn't ecumenism, neither said they are members of the same body.

Sincere question here. Why is he calling him brother? Don't the Orthodox believe that non-orthodox are necessarily heretics or non Christians? Thanks.

@@seffer777agree. I am not myself Eastern Orthodox, so I'm honestly a bit confused by this because I believe the canons of Orthodoxy wouldn't allow for this.

I think they would or could or maybe should say something along the lines of, "they're not members of the Church [meaning the Constantinople-based Churches], but they may be repentant believers akin to the thief on the cross, and should be brought into the Church." It's the balance of, the Holy Spirit can do what He will, with, where do we discern the body instituted by Christ whose teaching we can trust? However, I'm an outsider, so maybe I'm not capturing the right nuances.
