This is a result of a project that I decide to start because I like the Alembic and Wal sound. In the past I played both (not mine) but they haven’t all the characteristic that I want in a bass. So the idea to build what I want. This is the third instrument that Adrian build for me and I really like the work of his luthiers. For the body I’ve chose the Frog because for me it’s perfect in every part and I’ve a special feeling with it. Now the question: But does it sound like a Wal? I answer: No, the sound of a Wal is unique but this configuration is close to the original WAL tone. In a few words I’m Absolutely satisfied.

Mindblowing! You took the best parts of two non-plus-ultra basses and even managed to improve on it!? Wal-like pickups, Alembic-like construction, but better comfort (never played a Frog but only heard the best things about their playability), and maybe the most flexible filter EQ on earth!

John East pre-amps are my favorite . A little pricey but you get what you pay for . Smokin' inlays. To sum it up. SUPERB.

Great and inspiring job! Does the treble control knob work "in parallel" with the Low Pass Filters (i.e., even in the case of having both filters set to a low cutoff point, the treble boost would still have treble frecuencies to work with) or in series (i.e. after the LPFs, so that if both filters are "closed", there would be no treble left for adjustment)? thanks!

i was just searching around for a great combination of PU and preamp, and i found it in a great looking, really astonishing instrument. Wonder how much a six string version could cost.

This is a genuine beautiful looking and sounding bass, but that pre-amp would be way too complicated for me. I would be dialing in tones all the time and forgetting to play. Some things ought to be kept simple. A bass tone control is one of those things; A well designed bass, built out of good quality tone woods, combined with good pickups in the right place are most important to me. I own a fretless MK-1 Wal bass. And although the Wal preamp still is a revolution in tone shaping, I find the tone control on that bass way too complicated for me. I usually use one 1 or 2 settings with or without added pick attack. 90% of the sounds from a Wal pre-amp sound shit anyway; too harsh, too nasal or too deep without definition.
