In this video, I (Nikki Phillippi) do a publix grocery store haul with you. I have done other grocery store food hauls such as whole foods, costco, trader joes, and walmart as well. I like to share with you the type of foods I buy to make for breakfast, lunch and dinner, such as salsa, feta cheese, pickles, veggies, and more! I try to eat healthy and stay fit by making vegetarian or vegan type meals for the most part. I like to make easy, simple recipes that would be delicious for the whole family!

YOUVE NEVER BEEN TO KROGER?! 😂 girl GO! My town got the “new” Kroger a few years ago and it’s the best. It’s very comparable to a Publix. They have a sushi bar made fresh daily, Mediterranean bar, cheese bar, and all of the organic produce is as local as they can get. BUT if it’s an older Kroger you can leave it.

Hey Nikki! I'm commenting before watching just to tell you how much I LOVE Publix! The customer service, that Greenwise store brand, the bakery .. .I just love it! My parents live up north and when they were able to come to SC to visit me, they would buy non perishable Publix brand items back up north with them since they love the store so much! Nowadays, since they cannot travel, I send things to them! Can't say enough great things about Publix and I'm excited to watch this video!

I LOVE THESE VIDEOS!!! This is similar to the way my parents shopped growing up, we always had my produce and were cooking most of our meals. Once I moved out of their house and in with my bf and his family, I stopped and was eating out and only getting quick and unhealthy meals like they usually do. Watching all these videos has really inspired me to kick that nasty habit to the curb and cook again, nothing makes me happier than a wonderful home cooked meal! (My bf agrees!) THANK YOU for making these, I guess you could say it kinda changed my life lol. It's so satisfying to see that 3/4 of my groceries are produce!!!

I love making a cilantro lime jalapeño hummus! All it is is chickadees, lime, jalapeños, cilantro, fresh garlic, salt and pepper. I just add everything to a food processor and just try it as I go to get the taste to my liking. I bought something similar once from a farmers market and then tried to recreate it and it was just as good! I think you’d like it a lot :)

I don’t know if you already do this but your cilantro will keep better and longer if you put it in a mason jar of water and keep the bag over the top of it. Same thing for fresh parsley and dill! :)

I have also been on a journey to use less plastic. We have reusable grocery store bags, but one thing I'm working on now is those thin little plastic bags that you can put produce in. Something that cut my usage down by like 90% is realizing that for the vast majority of produce, I really don't need them. I throw avocados, lemons, peppers, potatoes, tomatoes, etc right into the cart not in a bag and if anything, I've noticed its EASIER because I don't have to unbag everything when I get home. The only thing I still use bags for are things that are loose (like green beans) and cilantro. So next on my list is to get a few reusable produce bags, but I just wanted to share that!

tell dan to get a pub sub from publix (especially the buffalo chicken tender, ASK the to toss the chicken in the sauce) I keep seeing all these people go to publix that I grew up with it in south florida, so publix is everything. the bakery is also FANTASTIC but the publix subs (pub subs) are literally lifeeeeeeee. buffalo tender foreverrrr. but the cold cut subs or any other hot subs are great, the spicy fried chicke. wings are also literally unreal. best grocery store everrrrrrr.

so in love with grocery hauls for some reason! also, dextrose is sugar. the simplest “form” of sugar, I believe, so the one that goes straight into your blood and will make your blood sugar spike - because of the simple structure your body burns it fast as well so basically it’s “in and out” of your system quite fast

You really should grow a lemon tree in your back yard when you get your outdoor garden going good again. You can grow them in pots and they’ll still provide fruit. That seems super cost effective and convenient for you guys considering how much you eat them. 😊

Publix is a Florida gem that is slowly creeping it’s way up! Pub subs are THE BEST!!!! It’s always so clean and bright in there with some of the beeeeest produce. Worth the prices (they are much pricier than WalMart).

NikkiPhillippi the birdie sub without meat!!!! I’ll add onions, peppers, and sometimes tomato. It comes with sliced apples and a garlic herb spread. They also have AMAZING sweet tea! And they sell a brand called Apple & Eve; if you are a fan of juice, they have a 100% organic orange pineapple juice that is divine.

tips for making hummus: Peel the skin off the chickpeas, I know it takes a long time but its really worth it! It makes the hummus really smooth! Also add a good amount of olive oil in. Yum :)

Tahni AKA (sesame seeds butter) is more of a authentic middle eastern hummus. It gives it that creamy buttery taste! I put Paprika in my humus, they do that at most Greek restaurants that I've gone too:) Also if you haven't, I would go to a great restaurant in you're area and ask them how they make their hummus. I haven't tried making hummus from scratch yet, but one recipe I want to try says to take the skins off of them. It compared the texture with the skins on and skins off. With the skins off the texture looks like just the texture of store bought hummus. Also the Sabra Supremely Spicy hummus is the BEST.

I think the biggest thing when making hummus is how you blend it. Do you use a food processor?

For super smooth homemade hummus I use canned chickpeas, drain them, and remove the little skin from each bean. A pain but it makes it so yum!!!!

Peeling the outer “skin” on the chickpeas really helps make the hummus smoother and creamy! I also have had a lot of success cooking them in the instant pot!
