I’m new to watching operas so I’ve been going to the cinema screening events. Last May, I saw her perform this at the Met both in the rehearsal and the main performance. When the interviewer asked her about her connection to the role and Asmik replied about how her mother was pregnant with her when she performed the role, I was thinking to myself “this singer must be committed”. Her performance made me cry twice. It was beautiful.

Breathtaking. I suspect that, if Giacomo could see and hear Asmik, the maestro may have used that term. With famous arias, one tends to close one's eyes, yet this lady's open eyes seem directy connected to her heart. That sets Asmik apart, in my opinion. Breathtaking.

One of Asmik's signature role, suits wonderful for her amazing voice and stage pressence. Will be essencial for her 2023/2024 Season. Asmik will sing Cio-Cio-San in Verona, London, Berlin and New York. For sure will attend some of this performances, specially at the Met (Debut) and Berlin!

the best houses in the world ! and Im happy for every singer who makes it there...but still- that a lyric soprano sings there Butterfly means the most of decision-makers of today have no clue about voices, including the conductors. actually, there is no doubt A.G. is a special type and a beautiful woman and a great actress, but she is just no spinto and really not even close to a dramatic voice.

My 'Auntie' Betty did amateur opera and did shows etc years ago. She wanted to sing for us so we put her in the pantry under the stairs for better accoustics ...... thinking about it now she could sing lovely but it was lost on us then ............ How I would love to see this opera now

Can barely hear here in the beginning where she signs in the lower register even with microphone. This is potentially a stunning voice but there is a much bigger sound that she could produce in my opinion. She has beautiful presence and stage appearance but there is more meat to the sound that is missing that would make her voice much more moving. I would like more body to the sound. All the best to her as she obviously has a nice career ahead.

Impostazione della voce poco adatta al personaggio. Anche una ragazza che ha 15 anni può avere una voce bellissima, Metavigliosa ma il modo di proiettare la voce e i sentimenti sarebbe molto diverso, so benissimo di che cosa sto parlando lo avevo vissuto già tantissimi anni fa … il vecchio

She's not bad exactly, but I am perplexed reading all the excited comments. Technically she sounds allright, but I feel this role is not for her. She is probably better suited for Verdi rather than Puccini (I am guessing, I really don't know).
