Del the wood for the neck comes from the tulip popular tree here from the south east USA! Most of the lumber has only the yellow and green but some does have the purple as well but kinda rare.peace

you should grab an old spokeshave and card scraper off EBay for the contouring. Those old tools work great. You can watch vids on how to use them. It will make short work of rounding your necks.

about the volume difference between the pickups. I noticed earlier in the video that the flag sticker on the humbucker was on the opposite side of the magnet. the magnet should be facing the strings, if you did not remove the sticker and place it over the magnet and place the magnet facing the strings then this could be the problem.
