30:12 omg it pisses me off soooo much when people use "reverse" in their tags like???? "reverse age gap" is just age gap!! 😭 or "reverse grumpy x sunshine",,,,,, B!TCH ????? what?? 🤨 they say that bc in their head the man is always older than the woman and the man is always rude and mean while the girl is cute and bubbly ugh ENOUGH!!!!!!!!!!! we need to ban the word "reverse" from these people's dictionaries fr 😭

honestly i’m so sick of the fanficafication of regular published books. fanfic doesn’t need to have absolutely stellar writing because we are reading it for the CHARACTERS from a PRE-ESTABLISHED WORLD AND NARRATIVE; the plot is just backdrop for the whole thing. you need to make readers care about the fucking characters in some way if you wanna do this tropey bullshit in your novel. even then i would say putting tropes out there explicitly doesn’t work in regular publishing because the tropes should be within the worldbuilding, storytelling, and characterization and not the main focus. if you want to write or read erotica i have absolutely no problem with that as someone who reads a lot of fanfic smut. but can we PLEASE stop propping up this shit as the peak of literature and call it what the fuck it is because I’M SICK of seeing all these popular tik tok books be of no substance and just straight garbage when there’s so much great new literature out there; not everyone wants to read erotica. honestly i would rather just stick to fanfic romance rather than published romance for this reason. published novels and fanfic should not be mixed together because i think they’re just two entirely different art forms that have different standards for what constitutes as good. i will say it time and time again: booktok books are for people who never had an ao3, tumblr, or even wattpad phase

The spilled tea was so hot that it burnt the sun. You're so right, as someone who writes fanfic and wants to write original works, those are very two different beasts to tame and I hate how booktok is just pushing fanfic as original fiction and tropeficing to hell and back

I have actually been listening to writing advice videos for a little while now, and there was one on writing romances that especially stuck with me (I can't remember it at the moment, but I'll edit it when I find it, I'm just gonna spew my thoughts out right now lol). You CAN write with tropes (example: grumpy x sunshine and I'll be using this for the rest of the comment), but it CAN NOT be all there is to the characters. They have to be ACTUAL PEOPLE. You can start with the trope as the basis before fleshing out the story, such as why the characters are attracted to each other and how they change each other. Maybe Grumpy starts out as a bit of a pessimistic loner, and Sunshine helps Grumpy see the bright side of things and learn how to take risks. And maybe something tragic happens to Sunshine and Grumpy is one of the few people who knows how to comfort them. TLDR; tropes are fine, but that can not be all there is. Edit: damn, I just realized how long my comment is lol, sorry for the word vomit!

@honestlysophie Жыл бұрын
that is SO niche or is this something im just super uneducated on
@QueenSiv Жыл бұрын
@@honestlysophie it’s a specific American experience I would think, when I was growing up my dad used to make up Robin phrases like that to me, and there was a meme format a few years ago that people would use of classic Batman comics and Robin saying some weird thing like that. Same vein as the ‘Batman slapping Robin’ meme

To be fair, you can still say you have a German name, if you mean German as in the language. We speak German in Austria, so the name is probably German regardless :P

@@Flareontoastit is german!!! i was just shocked to find out my ancestors didn't come from germany as we thought. which is fine cause i wouldn't consider myself german anyways, i don't have that much contact with the part of my family where i got my last name from so i wasn't really raised in the culture. it's just funny. and i should've maybe guessed it cause the only famous person ive seen with my last name was an austrian soccer player lol

@DarwinRoger8936 ай бұрын
No actually because women were really into sports romance but then people rightfully called them out to only read about white men in sports, so they went to read hockey romances. Because hockey is very predominantly white. That's why you'll see less basketball romances because they don't want to read about black men.

Seriously, those piercings, at least some of them, are reeeally big. You'll think it would change anything, but no... How she described it sounds like the character has four little barbels, good luck feeling those. (sorry bout my english) love your vids ♥

First of all, congrats on passing your exams, past Sophie! Second, every time you speak in German it renews my desire to learn it. I started learning it forever ago, because one of my favorite bands is German (no, it's not the one people will think of first. They're pretty obscure). I'm just so bad at learning languages, and have no one to talk to for practice.

I got this book to try to get into hockey for my husband and halfway through I realized I cannot handle the logic of harems. She wasn't wrong at all. or if she was, it just got pushed away? Like it's all "the men have a say" and no they don't. They have emotional issues and competition issues and dick piercings. It's just... Not it. Harems need to be more believable.
