10:19 ugly love is also notorious for the scene where the sibling-parents laugh at how their son had big balls… then immediately gets in a car crash and the mom and son die

"Bologna guy" I know adding a flair of humor can reduce the stress this situation brings, but please call him by his proper name. Justin Baldoni. Going by the most recent updates, Blake and Ryan Reynolds have dragged this man through absolute hell in this situation.

@Melpwelp Not sure if you removed my other comment, so it doesn't really seem okay but alright.

I also would like to say I did call him by his actual name multiple times in the video! This video was biased and talked on both of flaws from either side!

Ok to add more comtext since lived in time where she was popular in Goodreads and facebook. I'm 28 and i lived through this period. So 10 years back romance books with trauma was a big in GR because it's not just silly romance it also had depth to it. It was also the period of NA and YA romnace being extremely popular. Her book hopeless was highly rated(trauma + drama + romance). And her slammed series was also rated well. I had coho phase(equivalent to wattpad) where my teen self loved it. She had a decent FB group following too. In paper she seemed like a down to earth author just being her goofy self with a loving family interacting with her fans in her famout corner of the internet. Then i read her book ugly love after it's release. I fucking hated that book bcoz MC was Pos and fmc was a doormat and her style of writing for flashback portion was horrendous. And some other books released after ugly love were also questionable and problematic (me growing up helped see the issues). It ends with us is something likeable for me but after that i stopped reading CoHo books cuz i grew out of it and released her books are always just badly written. Btw tiktok not only boosted new authors also famous authors like Coho and SJM. Their sales were already good but it made them popular enough to get movie/tv shows adaptation

Yes! I definitely agree I think her earlier books were way better written and more thoughtful with the heaviness of the topics. I think she just got focused on producing books more frequently rather than the quality. Thanks a lot for the background info!!

I genuinely wonder how this can happen tho. If she at one point COULD write heavy topics respectfully, how come she can't now? Has she ever cared about these topics at all? Did her morals suddenly shed skin and transform into something horrific? Wtf happened

@@HobieInTheBox I feel like she got really careless with her approach. In her mind and in her corner of internet she was mostly beloved and even though there were genuine critisms it was not so popular. I also I heard her son was involved in a SA case and she tried to silence the girl. Anyways booktok risen her popularity and reached more people bringing in more rightful criticism and then ofc the movies didn't help much. The more visibility she got the more people could see how shitty her way of approaching topics/writing was

@@barbiekeerth I see that, really. However, I just can't see past the son thing. If she's willing to side with her son, an abuser, it makes me think she never really cared at all.

@@HobieInTheBox tbh that's what many and I think too. Even her earliest works had some issues with the way she handled it. Like I said as the audience grew more people could see her BS
