A little fun fact about interrogations: when someone tries to formulate a lie, the first thing they think of is the truth so they don’t subconsciously say it by accident. Then they try to come up with something else. In normal interrogations this process creates tells that an interrogator can use to know if someone is lying to them (no, I will not go into detail about what said tells are). If you can read minds however…

@@nickanderson55 That is indeed the mark of a skilled liar. However, when someone has a prepared story beforehand, it becomes obvious when they’re using said story once you run the baseline questions. Ask someone something obvious and simple like “what’s you name, age, and occupation?” And time how long it takes them to answer. If they rehearsed a lie beforehand, they’ll answer too quickly. Even if they know that fact about interrogation, you ask them to repeat the lie backwards. Either they won’t be able to keep it straight or will take much longer to answer it. Someone telling the truth won’t have to think too hard about telling their story in reverse. Otherwise, if someone is a pathological liar and they genuinely believe the lie, that will show up in the baseline questions.

It's possible Monty modified the Portent feature for Div wizard, which is perfectly fine, but the regular use of that ability says that you replace the roll before it happens. So Otho should have kept the nat 20. If the wizard wanted to have used it, Monty should not have called for a roll. Other than that great episode.

I know nobody, and I mean **NOBODY** who uses it that way. I have been on 3 tables with div wizard, one of them being me, and 100% of the time, it was used as a "actually, the roll is a X" once we saw how hilariously bad we rolled or well the ennemy rolled. From what I've seen across the Actual Play world (d20 Fantasy High most notably) this is also the way they play it. I think it's pretty much the same as how people will say "i use bardic inspiration" after seeing the roll, regardless whether or not the DM confirmed the success or failure, mostly because DMs tend to say "That's a success" or "thats a failure" quickly after seeing the dice roll.

@iridium6714 That's fair, just RAW (Rules as Written), Div Wizard is used in place of rolling. I actually played a Div Wizard myself and ran it RAW. That was all, Unexpectedables is the one D&D thing I watch so IDK about other live plays. It's Monty's game her rules, I'd just hope that if a guest player plays one to run it the same way. Ok I got an idea, we use the flying carpet to get above the council building, we hire a sorcerer to twin cast polymorph, we turn Ky and Milo into Brontosaurus and drop them on top of them and cause havok. Tell me if this is a good idea or not

Me and my party have been captured too often by hostile forces in the campaign I'm playing... How to effectively destroy a city or large structure with fire in D&D, locate the wells, they'll draw water from them to extinguish fires. If you have an alchemy jug stealthily use it to pour a bunch of clear oil in the wells. Then have someone cast fireball or another fire spell that can ignite a large blaze, while you have another starting smaller fires that won't immediately get noticed. The attempts to put out the flames will make them burn brighter and hotter, so by the time water is actually being used the flames will have progressed too much. While the buildings are burning hit them with thunder spells like thunderwave and shatter to launch the burning debris far and wide.

Someone mentioned Gaius in Smash, so here are some moves I thought up for fun. I tried incorporating as many features as I could remember off hand, so if anyone has suggestions, I'd love to here them. My ideas for some of his moves: Normal Attacks: Man fights for fun with his fists, so let him be a pugilist. Three hit combo ends on a headbutt. Smash Attacks: Giant swings of the bone axe, Up and side are cleaves while down is more of a crushing slam that can spike. Grab: Fire Rune, pummel is Gaius clenching hand and the chains squeezing. Grabbing into a headlock and punching the face is also acceptable. Taunts: Pull out Agni Odyssey and quickly write something. Using Second Wind, visualized as a quick huff and puff. Kneeling down and using the Code- I mean the Sending Stone Neutral Special: Giant's Might. Hit button to start charging (or maybe full body counter like Incineroar's, where stocks charges on getting hit?) . When fully charged, the next smash attack becomes a Giant Swing, with more damage, range, and knockback. Side Special: Stone Rune. Similar to Mewtwo's Disable, but longer range and shorter duration (maybe shoots out slow projectile rune instead of shorter duration?). About speed of using Snake's side special and canceling immediately in terms of recovery time. Up Special: Mirthful Leap. Just a fast jump that doesn't put Gaius in freefall, no damage. Using while grounded gives more of a forward arc to help with combos while using in air will go straighter up to help recover. Quick recovery and low landing lag. Down Special: Digging Claw (i forgot what they're called). While grounded, dig a hole in the stage that, when an opponent walks over it, they trip, as if it were a banana. Only one hole at a time, lasts for two trips (can be attacked like Isabella's down special?). If Gaius holds the button while a hole already exists, he will go into the platform and quickly dig to pop out of the hole. When used in the air, Gaius dives straight down and digs a hole (or tunnels to an existing hole). Spikes enemies on start up, think Toon Link's down air, but you can get some horizontal movement but holding left/right. ============ Final Smash: Roll for Initiative. On trigger, Gaius looks behind him as Milo flies in front of him and uses Radiance of the Dawn, doing 20% to foes around Gaius. The closest enemy hit also gets brought into the Final Smash Dimension tm. It starts with a brief shot of The Reclaimers (Milo above Gaius, whose in the middle. Isqan on the left, Ky and Otho on the right, but Otho is kind of behind Ky.) as the sound of 6 dice rolls ring out before they all rush in. I imagine initiative order is: Milo>Isqan>Wark>Ky>Otho>Gaius>Opponent. Milo's action was Radiance of the Dawn to start, but he will Spiritual Weapon and Warding Flare to blind and bonk the enemy before flying back to make room. Running to the left, Isqan uses Archer Starry Form and his free Guiding Bolt as a quick one-two blast. Wark comes out from Ky's cloak and flies in front of him to Help action Ky. Ky then moves in and attacks with a Shadow Blade, his poncho covering the screen after the slash comes down. This is because after he backs away... Law and Order come flying in from behind Ky's poncho, nailing the opponent to the floor. As Otho adjusts his glasses, he will call out, "Mr Agni!" giving him Master of Tactics. Gaius, now in his Large Giant form, runs up while readying his axe. The roll of a die is heard as a green 20 flashes in Gaius's eyes before he delivers a gigantic upwards SWING to the opponent, ending the final smash. The opponent hit by all of that is then send in a 45 degree arc away. (Maybe those hit by initial Radiance of the Dawn also get hit by the giant swing?) ============ For the sake of this final smash not taking like a minute, some of the things that happen in the turns happen simultaneously or before someone else's turn, like the spiritual weapon bonk and the ranged attacks. This is still probably too much for a Final Smash anyways, but it'd be cool. --------- More boring but realistic Final Smash idea: Action Surge Gaius uses Giant's Might to grow large, anyone caught by the growth gets brought in front of Gaius and starts freefalling as Gaius goes for an uppercut into a downwards slam, stunning opponents who got caught as he uses Action Surge, now pulling out the great axe to swing diagonally downwards and finishes with the same giant upwards swing as the other Final Smash idea. No need for the Final Smash Dimension tm for this one though. --------- Again, if you have more suggestions, maybe for exact moves that I didn't get into, or better ideas than I do, I'd love to hear them! Sorry if you don't know Smash Bros., as a lot of this probably didn't make sense, but hey, thanks for fucking reading this anyways! I really appreciate it.

Slight spoiler. All said and done. I think it suited the characters that Gaius regained consciousness before Isqan, seeing as he is more of a rough and tumble fighter and Isqan is the studious caster. Sorry that Mark had to miss out on the role play for something out of his control though.

A LATE LEMME GEEK SPOILERS FOR EARLY CAMPAIGN 2 AND NOW I GUESS I LIKE THIS. THIS IS FINE. WOW OKAY. Yee haw, I love everything about this episode. There is nothing that hits me wrong, it's all great. Everyone was great. Epic baby bunny moments, Aladdin references, ANGST. It's great!! Gonna be 100%, I completely forgot to comment on this episode when it first came out, so I don't entirely remember EVERYTHing about it but I do remember I stayed up till 1 a.m, watching the stream. I don't think I skipped the break either? I don't remember though. GIVE US THE OTHO LORE CRUMBS CONNOR WE CRAVE THE OTHO LORE CRUMBS. We also crave slow burn aswell though your doing great king. Will have to say though for a variety of reasons I'm gonna have to reject watching live (and for my own cliff hanger hating sake, the recent vods) until August. So to keep myself occupied I've been rewatching C2, and I'm already to Episode 9. Oh how things change, yet how they still stay the same. Once again, I come to thank Monty for not leaving the interrogation off for a cliffhanger, could have done that, ty for not doing that I would have shed tears. Writer heart also loves Monty for being able to keep stable tension. The week in-between sessions make it icky and it's a hard thing to pull off. Especially when its SO HIGH, but she handled the transition like a champ. It's stuff like that, that makes the podcast listeners remain invested and heck yeah go off dm queen. But for now I'm gonna have to retreat into my hole in the ground and listen to the orb cleansing group name in progress as they work their way through marterallo. I will return with my crazy ramblings in August, and I will return very suddenly.

Portent Dice must be used BEFORE the roll is cast. While Monty is the DM, using the Portent Die AFTER Connors roll, is technically against RAW.

From what I've seen from another comment discussing the same thing in spite of that being the RAW, no one runs it that way. It's like how, in Uno, technically, you can't stack draw 4s, but people do it anyway in spite of it being in the rules. The rules of D&D are more guidelines.

It's also just hard to coordinate doing that online. Latency will work against you quickly using it when you think of it. It's one of those things that's completely understandable why it's often not used RAW

That might be raw but nobody runs it that way. It's way more fun for the divination wizard to be able to look at the enemy's nat 20 and say "actually it's a 4". Plus, if she ran it raw, she would've just told him it was a 3. Would you still call it scripted at that point?
