Nice job on the racks. You mentioned needing a suggestion for mowing. You might get a 8n ford tractor and a 5ft finish mower. Those tractors are pretty cheap here in michigan you can find a good runner for $2000. A finish mower for $500-$600. Much nicer mow job than a brush hog. I mow in second gear and can do a couple acres in under an hour. If the ford needs a little service that would be great second channel content.

Puddin, Please take a 3" angle iron and install it against the bottom of your racks, and bolt it through the wall into a 2x6 on the closet side. Personally I would not feel comfortable working under that much metal, only supported by 8 lag bolts. If you can install the bolts at a slight upward angle, also change the top lag on each rack to a through bolt. Keep safe, mostly

The shearing force needed for one lag bolt is around 3500lbs, times that by 8 =28000lbs. I don’t think he’s got that much steel on there 🤔

I agree with @rich7934 putting angle iron right down to the floor so that supports the weight. I WOULD NOT FEEL COMFORTABLE AT ALL WITH ONLY THOSE LAG BOLTS HOLDING THE WEIGHT, THROUGH WOOD YET, YIKES !

Eight bolts, washers, nuts with a steel backing plate on the inside wall will keep the braces from pulling out.

I think decorating and building the shop is the fun stuff, I could careless if your not working on cars, I just like watching. Two things. 1. Pine tree rows make for good neighbor barriers as well 2. speaking from experience I’d highly recommend biting the bullet and just go with an in ground on your pool.

@@doctorprick2843 I’d totally disagree with that the off-season is a great time to put in a pool because you can get a much better price. The family will probably still use the crap out of it especially Hot Rod, she a perfect age for it and the investment is already made for when/if grand babies ever come in the picture *YEARS* down the road. I see what your saying because the novelty can wear off and it becomes a chore till the next generation comes along but in my experience it’s totally worth it.

more shop work love it puddin . should move that fancy welding bench in to the middle of the end bay as if it was a car parked there , you will have access to all sides of the bench and that means 4 of them not 1 like you got now you got plenty more bays to park cars in , also be able to walk all the way round when you set the model a chassis on it , buy a spray can of olive oil / canola oil (for cooking ) spray that bench down with it and use that beast for what its designed for ,welding and fabing the olive oil will stop the mig spatter from sticking to your bench and rust . also find 10 to 15 foot of wall space to set up a bench/rack for your chop saw (some where close to your steel rack ) its a game changer chop saw is ready to cut walk up throw on the material and cut , prob the single best thing i ever done in my new shop besides the 2 post hoist and a forklift aah the forklift life changer . any way puddin im in no hurry for you to back to project work (cars) im loving this content

Really like your solutions for metal storage, repurposing the barrel is an awesome idea. I really wish I could have set up my shop from the jump but I grew into mine and now I’m out growing it. Thanks for the welding tips! I went to school for welding but I've only welded twice in the last 40 years and both times using someone else's equipment.I have a buz bocks in my garage that I've never used, 20 years later I should get an outlet wired for it and see if it works.

Loving that scrap barrel. I noticed you had 2 dimple dies left from the cut. They would make the perfect little handles on the side of it. My buddy collects the old steel mattress frames from garage sales, etc, usually really cheap, to use as some of his 'angle iron' to build with. Its funny how you had all that stuff in that tiny old shop and now you got all this space and you re running out of places to put stuff. It grew on you!

The issue you mentioned with the dark bars in your video when you're in the fab shop could be a couple of issues. Is that room's electric running through a different electrical box? LEDS have a cycle rate and when you get those bars it usually means the cycle rate of the LEDs and the shutter speed on your camera are out of phase.

Dr Poodeen.. I suggest moving the welding table off the wall enough so that you can move around all sides of it, for when you need to weld on the back side of a project, it will save you having to unbolt and move the item you’re welding Just a suggestion

Fireball Tool, if you folks are interested, has some awesome welding tables, clamps, angles and such. Great vise breaking videos too. But my guess is these tables Puddin got on sale, we're on sale for a reason.

The pepper couldn’t be more apt in that red hot shop !! Puddin you keep on doing these videos until you’re dun because people like me are living their dreams through you and that is a fantastic thing

That's the problem with 2 hour long videos, plenty of time for multiple comments. I appreciate the shop build videos. Good ideas and I'm on phase 4 of my shop reorganizing. It's the evolution on that shop solution.

Wow you read my comment and ya DID IT WOW. You have a lift to use. All the stuff you did is fantastic and I`m sure your heart is swelling up big time.. I`m envious as hell. I hid what your doing in 1995, but it was only a rental. But still it was gradifing to see it all decked out. Seven years ago I turned 65 and had medicare and 20 days later dummy me didn`t use jack stands and a truck fell on me breaking my collasr bone and poking a big hole in my neck using the U bolts on the rear axel. Luckily the "Guvmint" paid for it and I healed quick but that was only the begining of a series of hospital and doctors resulting in going broke and haveing to sell out and move my stuff I had left and now most of it has ben stolen so whatever. enjoy it all my friend , I would love to come see it in person someday. God bless you and yours , but just look, I think He has!!!!

Take it easy on yourself! We all know how time flys by and don't get done what you planned on. Get it the way you want it for now. It may change further down the road after working in the shop. Got your Zen place!
