Its crazy how you can actually hear his voice warming up throughout the song. Glad this guy is sober. Could have lost another great musician. Looking forward to new music

Kyle Pennings He keep saying we will get new music. Doubt it though. His voice is so worn out you wanna hear now.

I'm with the others concerned about Wes; hoping for his continued sobriety and good health. I saw them live at a small venue in northern California in 2014, and it seemed then he was trying to self-unmedicate. He had been sick for days with the "flu" before they arrived, and the audience was warned that it could go sideways. The show was fan-fucking-tabulous. Wes seemed to get stoked as the show progressed.....cuz maybe, he was numb for a long time about performances. But him, and all the band, really drew off the energy of the crowd whooping and singing along. They weren't scheduled for the 2.5 hours they ended up playing, which was more than half their radio-play catalog (typically a big no-no). I mean, how much more flattering can it get, than when a band starts a song -- that the ENTIRE audience joins in and finishes it....by themselves, and the musicians turn down their volume so they can hear "imitation as the greatest form of flattery". They were sooooo stoked that they told everyone at the end of the show to hang around, and they'd sign anything put in front of them, because now, THEY were OUR fans. So, cheers to Wes for taking the steps necessary over a couple years to ensure his sobriety; and may he be better for the undertaking. We'd all love new music from them, right?

I met Wes in Fayetteville Arkansas he played at George’s Majestic Lounge back in 2013 it was raining while we waited for the doors to open and the group Puddle of Mudd gave out 50 rain plastic panchos with the Puddle of Mudd logos on it thank you Wes for looking out for your fans that day 🤘😎

It's like he gives hints of how he used to perform this song so perfectly, yet he just isn't able to access that talent to its fullest potential as he once was able to. It's not sad. It's just his journey.

Quite often, songs are written with acoustic instruments & then transitioned to electric to the way the artist hears it in their head. 😆 & then the fans hear it later in acoustic & we’re like “wow, that sounds so good”

Ok, nobody's probably gonna answer this, but why does it sound like he plays a d minor when he's actually playing a regular d chord? Every tab says it's a d minor, but in this video (and others) he's playing a d chord. Edit: Thanks to Perry Phillips Collective Karen - Paul Phillips, I understand it. The high e string is tuned to a d. The rest is just drop d flat.
@CoDisafishy4 жыл бұрын
If you notice, his index never touches the 1st fret.

Also, would anyone be able to tell, by the chord shapes they used if this song is double drop d, or standard? It looks like Paul was using barre chords during Wes's solo, so I'm leaning towards the former. Please, I want to learn this song and I'm kind of a perfectionist, I want to play it the way they do. Thanks!

Skunginoggin345 I’ll ask Paul but I think the top and bottom E chords are tuned down to D. I’ve heard him explain it to a lot of people but I’ll make sure I’m correct and get back to you. 🤘🏻

Is anyone able to tell what chords he's using for the chorus? They don't match tabs or chord progressions I'm finding online. I'm not seeing him play a bar chord f..thought that was crucial.
