As someone that grew up the son of a piano teacher and vocal coach, I pick up on things easily and I can say this with confidence. Been trying to put my finger on why Puddles voice stands out so uniquely amongst singers. And finally figured it out. His tone, his vibrato, and his inflection give off a very uncommon ethereal sound. It resonates at a naturally high volume and pierces the air with his beautifully trained voice. He's in a select category of rare singing ability.

As a "child" of the original version - it captured the rage I felt during the late 60's and 70's. Now as an "old man", the rendition is a terrific lament underscoring the continued reality of the wars we (and others) continue to fight today. There is a time for war (even today) and a time for peace, but it feels that in the world today, those who control our fate do not appreciate the difference.

@Music4MyBrain
@Music4MyBrain Жыл бұрын
@@audreymuzingo933 Actually, numerous big-name artists do cover versions all the time. It all comes down to how it is presented. Whitney Houston as an example never wrote any of her hits and one of her biggest hits ever "I will always love you" is a cover of a song written and originally performed by Dolly Parton. As a second example, Adele did the song "Hiding my Heart Away" which is a cover of a song originally on a Brandi Carlile album but written by a different individual. Adele and Whitney were already megastars and got away with not mentioning who did the original song while lesser-known artists will get attacked for it (or not having the money to fix the problem).

@@Music4MyBrain Of course, but that's not what I meant. I was talking about any famous artists who do ONLY covers. I thought that was obvious, as I mentioned Weird Al. The OP can't understand why this Puddles isn't more famous. I'm asserting that no matter how good a cover act is, they're not going to get famous if they don't write any of their own songs. And even Weird Al doesn't cover songs 'straight'; he changes the lyrics to make the songs humorous.

@@audreymuzingo933 To be fair, Weird Al does parodies more than covers. Off the top of my head I can think of only one relatively known band specializing in covers, and that is Novelle Vague. However there's a few cover songs that have become way more well known than the original, like Soft Cell's version of Gloria Jones's Tainted Love, Gary Jules's cover of Tear for Fear's Mad World, or Johhny Cage's cover of NIN's Hurt.

@@audreymuzingo933 Everyone who doesn't write their own music does covers which is the giant majority of singers/bands. And numerous of them have become rich and famous without writing any songs. The difference is the money. Some of them do get their own songs when a music company is behind them but their music still wasn't written by them in this case either (winners of x-factor, the voice, etc. as an example) Puddles is as talented or more talented than the giant majority of them.

Kinda shocked that, in nearly twenty years of cavorting about the internet (and most of that time spent binging KZbin), I've not once stumbled across such a brilliant cover of such a dark tune. My question is: How on earth did you manage to take an already DARK song and somehow, make it DARKER? BTW...your voice has a tart richness that Ozzy lacks, and your playing is spot-on.

Wow, talk about capturing the true sadness of this song. You have done such an amazing job of showing the relevance of this song to the way things are today. A totally different way of the use of instrumentation without losing any of the song's power and message. You have brought across the very scary way the powers that run this planet are are screwing us all. God Bless

I don't care about the name, the act, the makeup. What I care about is how amazing you are, you find a way to take classic songs and make it your own but also make it more articulate so we the audience know the lyrics, bravo! You are truly a class act and kudos to the producer for bringing it out. That's not to say you need it I know for good fact you can nail the performance live too! Once again thank you Puddles!

It really is far out, I have been a Puddles fan for a few years and I never would have thunk I'd love listening to a clown do cover songs. Now, I have to say this song War Pigs is quite possibly my favorite rock tune ever, and wow...this version is amazing...he made it his own while still keeping true to, perhaps even enhancing, the dark terror tone of the original Black Sabbath song. I had chills listening to this!!

My awe of Ozzy's penmanship, the message, the poetry, the power - I never understood the degree at which this song rested in the lyrical rock songs of the greats...and now that I can understand the words - ohh...my...lanta.... I've already replied to this, but I keep coming back to this song, and I am still so thankful that Puddles and crew covered this song - and TOTALLY made it into another creation!

Hello Puddles and thank you for this excellent version of this great Sabbath track! I love the subtle tweaks you put into the melody, and your vocal is brilliant and heartfelt as always... maybe even more than usual? Also l must thank you for your impeccable diction as a singer...l have never clearly heard some of the lyrics until now. I am not sure l understand what it is you are "doing", and l am not sure you do either. But l can certainly tell that what you do is no "act", and it is best to enjoy your brilliance in the unique manner in which you have chosen to present it. There is a meaning to it which l think connects to people on a deep level but l have given up trying to analyze it...l am just thrilled that you are out there sharing yourself with all of us. I think, like you, we are all clowns crying on the inside.

I do a lot of research and sourcing for a group of war journalists and as a result I am neck deep in the human tragedy in Ukraine right now. This was just absolutely so far beyond powerful for me. I'm a huge Sabbath fan as is and this cover really drives home the message of this song. I can't really say much more than that. It moved me deeply, to tears, especially your face at the end. The embodiment of stepping back, looking at humanity from the outside and wondering what the hell we are doing.
