Gilligans Island was the singularly most surreal t.v. show ever. I used to watch it religiously as a small child in the seventies. Looking back, there isn't a tiny iota about that show that bears any relationship to actuall reality. So you wonder, were the writers just hacks writing pulp fiction for ratings, or was there some sort of imbedded wisdom, some deep seated existential lesson about humanity (like hell is other people) going on there. Inquiring minds want to know.
