I flew into US 24 hours before my spouse and kid arrived, so they didn’t had any issues in immigration. But lessons for visa holders is “Don’t be careless when your family excluding you is travelling to USA(particularly), because this is one of the country that gives nightmares to legal immigrants 😂

Don’t carry anything that would cause problems. Buy a drone in the country where you use it india or USA. Leave it behind and travel with peace of mind. It would be even more strict in Australia and Newzealand.

Thanks for the post. I have experienced some of the worst customer services in Indian airports especially chennai. Besides them speaking hindi to tamilians most of them are arrogant & jealous of Indians going abroad & do their best to rip us off ! Never take chances with these guys !

Thanks . I have also experienced some of the worst customer services in Chennai airport. Security police know only Hindi . We don't know Hindi. They don't know the tamil language . How they are know our problem . How can we speak to them . After that worst experience in Chennai 😮I always go by train in the 2nd AC throught India. III Class Sleeper travel in railway journey in India to the north it is very very very horrible, Sleeper class filled with unreserved passengers we can't go even toilet . This is our India😢

But it was clearly mentioned that they have enquired with CBP "beforehand". And they have informed that it's fine to travel separately. Guess its inconsistent response from CBP that was misleading as well. Everyone knows primary applicant has to be with dependant but then things don't always work as per plan. I don't think it's a "mistake" on travellers. In fact its good they share their experience so that other families in same situation could avoid taking random responses from CBP officials.

Pain and tension moments are more costly than the 2500 usd - I mean airfare at that point. Unless otherwise there is no emergency, the entire family could have cancelled and booked/ travelled together for a peaceful trip. This is not worth taking a trip with members separated in diff flights with these conditional visa requirements.

You were careless on 2 things. Should’ve put your drone in check in luggage in the first place. Then you were taking too much risk coming back separately. Were u trying to save some money or if no seats were available for your husband on your flight, you didn’t plan it properly

I faced the similar situation in Trichy airport to Singapore. As i had my dji mini 2 drone in the small drone bag(which comes with the combo) i put as a separate checkin bag. Luckily i Received the drone bag safely in sg airport.

I too had a similar experience many years ago at JFK. I was travelling alone on an H1B visa and for some reason, was taken inside for secondary screening. in my case, every thing was in order but still the immigration officer sent me to secondary screening. That room is a scary place - windowless with the officers standing before their computer terminals and shooting questions at you. Luckily, I was allowed in after an hour of waiting and answering half a dozen questions. I think that immigration officer was just on a power trip.

I remember another youtuber who relented when he was traveling from Singapore to Sri Lanka, with a transit in Chennai. He was disallowed to carry the drone, when he was transferring at Chennai!!!...bec he had to do a carry on bag check!(?)...whichbis also common on on international flight transits in other countries like Tokyo, Seoul etc...The drone, unfortunately he had borrowed from some one else and it was an expensive one. He was told that with a special arrangement given...it can be allowed for some one to come collect it..but I am of the view with corruption and because of other reasons the drone would not be given..i dont know what happened to that youtubers drone after that.

Before 6 months of expiry u can freely come. If within 6 months of expiry they may have the right to allow to deny our entry. It's our luck They r asking why r u going if it expires next month? Your answer justifies ok. If not, they will deny ur entry.

I have travelled so many times from BLR airport never faced any Language issues.Tamilian always cry lang barrier if they cross TN.Even if u have problem speaking kannada then google translate is there.As a tamilian i feel very bad that you guys dont know basic kannada & went to BLR.
