When I saw eating mole I was screaming "Put the Mexican rice in the mole!" That's the way I was taught to eat that mole dish. One of the women from my community made the best mole and when I went to her birthday celebration I had one of the best meals I ever had in my life-chicken, Mexican rice smothered in mole.

Not my favorite Museum in Puebla, but I'm glad to see at least you went to one. After Mexico City, Puebla is the Mexican City with most Museums in the Country. Some are truly spectacular, some, with no counterpart in the Americas (only in Europe). Traveling in Puebla, I was invited to the opening of the 'Amparo Museum', and at that time it promised to be one of the best in the City. Great space and Art Collections. Sadly, the curatorial job done with that 'mural' in the second floor of the loggia, and the 'sculpture' at its feet, leaves too much to be desired. Nothing to do with the great Mexican Muralist Movement from previous generations (Pretty poorly executed and conceived. Sorry). Cholula is another little Jewel of Baroque and Rococo Architecture and General Arts. Enjoy it dude (You will). Cheers

I wish I had planned for more than two nights for Puebla/Cholula. Most travel guides recommended two days and they were clearly wrong. It’s such a pretty city. What museum is your favorite?

@@GringoInterruptedI see, two days in Puebla are not enough. So much to see and enjoy in America's Baroque Capital. The two Bello Museums (Two brothers' Art Collections) are some of my favorites. The best, the splendid silk upholstered walls 'Casa Alfenique' (House of Sugar) is a must. One of the best 17th & 18th Century Art and Mobiliere Collections in America. Eventhogh the magnificent 'Museo Internacional Barroco' is considered one of the best of its kind in the Continent, it doesn't possess the magnificent collections as 'Casa Alfenique', but still worth visiting. The ultramodern architecture of the building (by Japanese Architect Toyo Ito) is a wonder in itself; but if you want to marvel with one of the best treasures in the Continent, you have to visit the Tapestry Room at Puebla's main Cathedral, it's amazing Relics Treasury Hall, and the even more stunning Palafox Library across the street. There's nothing in the Americas remotely close to it (years ago I had a dinner inside that magnificent room w some historians and local art critics. Imagine that in candlelight). Next time you visit Mexico, make sure to make some time to visit Puebla to enjoy it's magnificent wonders. Until then, have a great time. Cheers

I find your comment at 10:58 about the amount of money spent on churches could have solve poverty in Mexico a tad rhetorical or ill informed. Historically what was happening in those days was the advance of Protestantism in Europe. In response, the Holy See "encouraged" the Catholic countries to build the most wonderful buildings to show how the Roman religion was on top of Protestantism. Hence Baroque style was born. In America the pressure was greater due to the new cities in New Spain had to compete with each other to gain the favor of the Church and the Crown to get economic privileges like better trade conditions. Puebla actually wanted to be the Vice Kingdom's capital and was competing with Mexico City. Therefore, a formidable Church, and better yet, a sanctuary was the best way to show piety to the church and loyalty to the crown. I compare your comment by me saying, with all the funds allocated to defense, the US can easily solve the ever growing homeless population in major cities across the country. This, ignoring that US military might ensures economic and political influence throughout the world. All empires behave equally.

Thanks for the wonderful information! I'm planning on using the TAPO station (bus) to get from from Mexico City to Puebla as well. I was wondering, how do you get back to Mexico City? Is there a TAPO station in Puebla as well. I can't seem to find one.
