So the rumors that’s Puffy for Biggie killed or let him die to take ownership of his music is pure fiction. Perfect real life example,: The Lox still pissed at Puffy to this day for not giving them their masters back or selling it to them because that’s the contract they signed. Puffy doesn’t HAVE to give them their publishing or masters back; dead or alive, he owns it. Same with Irv Gotti and Ashanti. She wants her masters back, he refused to sell them to her, then he sold the whole Murder Inc masters to some billionaire for 300 million.

When I think back on everything in hindsight, I think Puffy rode on Biggie's coat tails to pave the way for his own career. Puffy is a huge narcissist, and as many know, narcs do NOT like playing second fiddle to someone or being in anyone's shadow. They want to be the main attraction, and if that means knocking out competition, so be it. Suge Knight was right when he made that dig about Puff "dancing in the videos" because why WAS Puff in all these videos when all he was was the producer? He knew Biggie was more lyrically talented than him, so used Biggie and other bad boy artists music videos to showcase himself to the world. He was in 112's Only You video, and Total's Can't You See videos, yet aside from having a few little adlibs, he didn't have any verses in either song. He was quick to release I'll Be Missing you to the world after Biggie died in order to manipulate the world into thinking he was a grieving friend, but I personally think that was him making his "debut" as an artist to the world. He had finally achieved his goal with that song, and that was to have all the shine on him.

Things escalated to where Biggie was killed some say to get the Golden Goose. Puff comes from a family of grifters. It seems like Suge Knight and Puffy colluded with each other to have Tupac and Biggie killed to gain control of each of their respective catalogs and publishing because they both knew Pac and Big would be worth more dead than alive (like Jimi Hendrix, Michael Jackson and Prince). Suge got pinched for that Murder Burger incident because he was an idiot and wanted be seen in the public, while Puff was a little smarter in the way he moved and got away with it, so far. At least, that's what I'm getting from hearing these stories, especially the most recent Gene accounts which have been consistent after him telling the story multiple times over the years.
