Love watching a "first timer" react to this movie.😂😂 I got exposed to it at 5 in 1986 (i'm 42 lol) Needless to say i had nightmares for awhile, my big bro wanted to be a dick and he rewound the tape back and i had to see the ending multiple times😂😂😂

Ending explained: A flashback reveals that it was actually Angela who died alongside their father eight years earlier, and not Peter. Peter was taken in by Aunt Martha, but because she already had a son and had always wanted a daughter, she decided to raise Peter as a girl and renamed him Angela. That, according to the movie, is why Angela seems so traumatized, and why she eventually became twisted enough to kill a bunch of people. Also, the scene where it shows the two men together that is the dad that died and that is why Angela(Peter) was confused but it is Aunt Martha’s fault

In the original movie, the other man was Aunt Martha’s brother-in-law. Her husband had already left her when she got custody of Peter and groomed him into becoming Angela. The movie is actually pretty progressive. Peter and Angela spy on their two dads having sex and presumably play post office later. Peter knows that boys and girls are biologically different and his aunt is insane to think that she can just dress up Peter to become Angela. If you like this plot twist, check out A Reflection of Fear (1972) with Sondra Locke.

Fun fact. Felissa Rose (who plays Angela)‘s mother would not allow her to wear prosthetic genitalia so they made a mask of her face to put on a guy. That’s why it gives such strong creepy vibes. That face literally haunted me for weeks.

Angela aka Peter is one of the most tragic horror movie characters ever. Peter could’ve had a normal life if it wasn’t for his mentally ill aunt conditioning him into being a girl and possibly abusing him physically.

She even grew up around the LGBT + community but when she read the script. She was like okay it's about a boy being both physically and mentally abused to the extreme level by his aunt Martha. She talks about it on a audio commentary on the Shout/ Scream Factory Collector's Edition of Sleepaway Camp. People that are transgender chose to be the opposite gender an go by a different name. Willingly by their own free will that makes them transgender. If someone doesn't choose to be the opposite gender or go by another name. If that is forced upon them against their free will. Then it's called physically and mentally abused. So since Peter never willingly gave up his name or gender. It was taken from him by force by his Aunt Martha it is called physically and mentally abused. That was the writer an directors idea to show a extreme case of child abuse. He says it on the audio commentaries for the movie so he thought. What would be the worst case of child abuse one can think of them it hit him. Having some being forced to live as someone else against their will. Then when he was writing the movie he had the idea of a boy being forced not only of being forced to live as someone else. But someone of a completely different gender to make the abuse worse for one thing. Then for the shock value of the reveal that is an was the plan of the movie from the start. But seriously on the audio commentary Felissa Rose an the writer and director say. They have no idea when the transgender thing was added to it. Because the movie clearly shows an says a young boy Peter was both physically and mentally abused. By his aunt Martha until he snapped an started to kill people that wronged him. They used the characters name Angela because that was the characters name. But they never say what's wrong with her they always say whats wrong it Angela. So they never bring up anything transgender in the audio commentaries. They always refer to Peter as a boy that proves there's nothing about anything transgender in this movie.

A bit of a sad fun fact about the infamous ending: Felissa Rose (Angela) was originally going to wear a strap-on for the big reveal, but her mother nixed that idea pretty quick which resulted in the filmmakers hiring an unknown actor to do the shot They made a mask out of Felissa's face and he was going to wear it while naked The night prior of shooting the scene though, the dude broke down sobbing while having drinks with the filmmakers and after they wrapped the movie, he just didn't talk to them So yeah, while the ending is shocking, it really messed up the dude's mental state behind the scenes

Funfact kinda:that ending scene wasn’t actually the actor of Angela it was actually a male actor with a mask of Angela over the face of the male actor.That scene made him feel so messed up cause he was uncomfortable playing a little girl.He even asked people to not credit him in the movie.

He wore a very life like mask modeled after the actress who played Angela.

Felissa Rose, who played Angela, is a female and played Angela female. That last scene is a random guy who was wesring a mask of Angela's face. Originally, they wanted to give Felissa Rose a strapon, but felt that it may have negatively affected her so they went with the guy who nobody knows the identity of.

Did you catch the weapon changing from a knife to a hammer? I think? at the very end? If you look at the weapon Angela /Peter is holding as the camera is zooming away from him to show his full body, you will definitely notice it.

Dude, seriously - - okay; a sleepaway camp is a camp where you actually live for a period of time - - can be short (days or a week or so) or all summer. But you don't just sleep there. You do camp stuff (sports, swimming, games, socials, movies, arts and crafts and so on) and you eat your meals there and go to bed there at night, in your cabin. That's sleepaway camp. Most sleepaway camps are pretty generic camp-camps. Others are special interest type camps - - soccer camp, cheerleading camp, computer/tech camp, gymnastics camp, dance camp - - stuff like that.
