I use Vaico 5W40 in my 2013 Polo TDI 1.2. My car has run 1,38,472 KMs on the ODO and still has no issues. Coolant and Engine oil should always be as per manufacturer recommendation especially for German cars.

Synthetic oil is made from gas not from crude oil. The process is not like dalda. Hydrogenation and carbon chain reaction both are different processes. Mineral oil can create carbon lumps which block oil circulation channels which may cause engine higher wear and tear also it is a primary cause of engine failure. Hydrogen carbon gases are in pure foam and it doesn't contain any minerals. That's why the word is used synthetic. Mineral and synthetic oil are not the same oil.

१) इंजन आयल की लाइफ आपने बहुत अच्छी तरह रोचक तरीक़े से बताई। मान लो हमने २५००० km वाला तेल गाड़ी में डलवाया है। लेकिन गाड़ी कम चलती है। तो क्या तेल को २५००० km पर ही बदले या समय अनुसार पहले भी बदल सकते हैं? क्योंकि गाड़ी में डालने पर तेल की भी self life होती होगी!! २) आपने जो भी ब्रांड दिखाए हैं वो लगभग 5W30 के हैं। लेकिन जापानी व कोरियान कंपनियाँ 0W20 recommend करती हैं। उस सीरीज में कौन से तेल आते हैं? ३) authorized सर्विस सेंटर वाले ख़ुद का ही तेल प्रयोग करते है। बाहर का मना कर देते हैं। इस विपत्ति से कैसे निपटे?

Ek e cheez bai bhaishab! There is no substitute of AMSOIL. Typically, for majority of Indian climate(s) 5W-30 is the best. Now whether it’s a signature series or European motor oil that’s a different story. But none can even come close to AMSOIL. Extremely good video. The point is most of us are unaware of these facts. It’s a disgress……. . Many of us still don’t know what are the major differences b/w synthetic vs fully synthetic vs 100% synthetic oil. I work for an international oil & gas major and can tell this responsibly.

@@hereforyouwhatWe need to consider certain things. There are understanding gaps in few areas and also awareness. A. There is nothing called AMSOIL regular and AMSOIL Germany B. Primarily, we should be looking for whether it’s API/SN or ACEA specifications grade oil. There are other bodies as well. But let’s keep the thing simpler C. In Indian context, if it’s a petrol vehicle, then normally we use API/SN specified oil D. For Diesel vehicles, we use ACEA specified oil E. For both the points C & D, I am not going into chemical composition details and what each and individual composition does. It’s not needed for the broader audiences as most of us are normal people. Very few of us are chemical engineers. Well! That’s aside F. All ways remember (For Diesel Vehicles):- 1. BS3/4 non-turbo should use ACEA A5/B5 or A3/B4 grade oil 2. BS4/BS6 turbo should use ACEA C2 or C3 or C5 grade oil depending upon the full exhaust design. In general, C3 grade is a kind of universal for all. 3. In Indian context, try to avoid C5 grade oil. These grade of oil is excellent. But there is a catch. C5/C6 grade oils come with low viscosity only. Unfortunately, which companies recommend only. Well! we design it and market it for specific reasons (excluding certain parameters). The main purpose is to boost the mileage. 4. If we understand the Indian climate and consider the metallurgy, then 5W-30, 5W-40, 0W-30 suit better depending upon in which part of India the vehicle will run. In India, never use *W-20 grade oil. It will damage your engine in long run. Now coming to your question. Mannol. Again the basic thing. It does come under the category where it can be compared with AMSOIL. It’s not Apple vs Apple. One of fully synthetic and the other one is 109% synthetic. Now what it means? It’s too technical to explain. But consider the fact that one is Johnnie Walke and the other one is Lagavulin.

From what I understand (I could be wrong), they are blenders and they dont have any refineries unlike Exxon Mobil or Shell, and they basically purchase base oil from refineries (Exxon Mobil or Shell?) and purchase additives from some other companies (Cheveron,Infineum or Lubrizol?) and blend and customize it.

Thanks. Fuchs: I have heard a lot about it, its a good oil in Hungary and Germany. When it comes to India, I am not sure what do they make. It nowhere says PAO on Indian bottle (on German it does say). So better get the original one or buy Amsoil ECF (the best)

Thanks As Well I'm in the UK 🇬🇧 Fuchs Do Decent oil the one I'm using is Fuchs Pro S 5w40 which is motorsport oil its a PAO plus has Esters in the mix, its more expensive than the rest but I notice the car is slightly more louder but more free revving it's a slightly thicker 5w40 oil mainly for petrol engines but I'm using this in a VW diesel engine oil with no problem. The rest of the Fuchs oil that are manufacturer approved are group 3 oil same as castrol. The motor sport oil I am using has no approvals but I buy my oil from Opie Oils and they highly approve this oil.

Hey Pulkit! I recently created a video about oil grades. I don't think its true that petrols mostly use 30 and diesel 40... Hyundai uses 30 in both. Maruti uses 30. But in petrols they use W20. now they use 0w16

Thanks for this informative video. Have been using premium grade oil from Castrol since 1986 in all my two wheelers and Cars without ever opening engines even after 1 lakh kms. I prefer 5 W -30 W Castrol magnetic oil . Was surprised to note from video that you discontinued Castrol Magnetic oil usuage on the presumption that engines are of aluminum which i think is not correct since the gear components, piston sleeves are of highgrade steel. May you clarify why manufacturers recommend change of oil at intervals of specified kms or after pariclaular months . If i use only 2000 kms in a year why should I change my Honda WRV Engine oil every 12 months?? Does the oil viscosity deteriorate at a particular period or after running specified kms ???. Mahindra XUV manual states it's change every 10,000 kms without any mention of duration !

I wouldn’t like to use it in the cheapest of the vehicles we own. I recommend quality. I don’t consider any company or a business highly. What Honda says can be taken with a pinch of salt because no doctor wants a super healthy population.

Sir I have pulsar 125 Bs4 . The manual I got with it recomends 20w50 oil. But later for bs6 pulsar 125 Bs6 it is recomended 10w30 oil. Now old manual is not available online. So official wesite olny tels to add 10w30 oil . What should I do now? Should I switch to 10w30 ? please reply . My bike ran 19000km till now. Service will be don enext week.

Hi Pulkit ji. Choice of aftermarket Engine oil has become an even more difficult for bs6 diesel vehicles with DPF. I use Amsoil Turbo Truck full synthetic 5w-40 for my diesel vehicle and I am very happy with it. NVH of My 2.2 liter turbo diesel at idle is almost comparable to petrol vehicles with OEM engine oil. Here I would like to highlight another malpractice from Mahindra - they never disclose the grade of oil used at service centers. However from my own sources at Mahindra Service center and a lot of research on the internet, I have come to know that Mahindra uses 15w-40 for bs6 diesels. Now here is my justification for using 5w-40 : 1. Maximum wear and tear happens at start. A thinner oil with higher fluidity will be able to reach to all parts of the engine far more quickly and help reduce friction. 2. 15w40 takes a long time (4-5 kms sedate driving after warmup) to come up to optimal working temperature, whereas Amsoil 5w-40 comes up to optimal operating temperature within 1 or 2 kms of sedate driving after warmup. 3. In my knowledge, Amsoil is the only oil brand in India which comes with CK4 rating which is essential so that there is minimal soot buildup at the DPF. But sir I would like to know more from you as quite clearly you are far more knowledgeable than me. It is my educated assumption that NVH , and to some extent, heating can be brought down if friction is reduced in the engine.

I agree with you. With engines with DPF, only low ash oils can be used. So it should be either CK4 or ACEA C3. If 5w-40 is an approved grade for your engine, then Amsoil Turbo Truck should be a good choice.

Hi Shubham Ji, Amsoil Turbo is a good oil, but there are much better options available. All high end oils are perfect match for DPF. Rest I have already explained.

@@pulkitkumara waiting for your video on how changing oil grade can affect the engine. In my understanding, increasing the range of operability , for example, moving from 15w40 to 5w40 can harm an engine if the tolerances of the engine are larger. Larger tolerances can lead to oil leakages. But I believe and I have seen that most modern engines are built with very precise and low tolerances to maximize volumetric efficiency, so moving to one grade thinner oil without decreasing the higher temperature operability number does not put any detrimental effect on engine.

@@shubhammukherjee4830 IMHO, if an engine was designed for 15w40, then we should use it. If it can handle both 5w40 and 15w40, it I don't think there will be any harm in using 5w40. I believe difference between 15w40 and 5w40 will be in the viscosity improver package...

Absolutely true shubham ji. See oil is never "thinner" or thicker. It is the viscosity. Greasing nature is important and one should not go for super fluid oil either. Chemistry is something which "explains" unlike physics which "ascertains". I have a car in our house which responds very badly to any other oil than 15W40. All formulas fail. We have an engine in Ford which needs a specific blood. So partly it is science and reason, and partly it is experience.

Depends on your budget, you can use Mobil 1 ESP which is more suited to warmer conditions or Amsoil Signature 5W30, otherwise the oil you used is good in itself.

Sir I have vast experience on this engine, and there are very few combinations which work on this engine. I tried ESP on this and it didn't excite us. Combinations that work I reveal on 1 to 1 basis only to people who really need them. You and I can personally connect and I will tell you there.

I owned Xuv300 diesel Automatic AMt..Sir im very confused which Oil should I use because Company didn't mentioned it on Manual book of car.. They only wrote Use always Mahindra Maximile Ultra V6 but not mentioned grades., I tried google, service centre, many garage, all they have the difference opinion but dont have exact grade for my car even for Scorpion and Xuv700, thar n all. Some website I found and on Automatic Car Diesel xuv300 manual book that If u didn't find Mahindra Maximile then use 15W-40 API CH4 but this is oil which is used in trucks seriously Mahindra 😵‍💫 Please help I want to switch oil And I want Low sound from engine NVH overall Smooth performance.. And engine maintain overall no budget issue for this

Yes you can use ACEA C3. A3/B4 is high saps which is not good for bs6 engines with catalytic converters but if your car is bs4 then yeah you can use that too.

After long time...welcome back...could you please let me know under which group does Motul 8100 x-cess 5w40 (imported)fully synthetic falls...also I have checked the product sheet as well and found that viscosity at 100 degree is 14.2 mm square per second, Viscosity Index of 172 and flash point of 230 degrees...please advise

Thanks sir for the reception. Motul is something that I haven't yet used. The internet is divided with bias towards that it is Gr IV and V.

Viscosity Index of 172 is very good, so is the flash point. 14.2cp is typical for 5w40 oils. Fully synthetic is just a marketing term. It should be a group 3 oil. The same Motul oil sold in Germany will be mentioned as synthetic technology and not "VollySynthetisch" in the sticker. X-cess oils can be used for BS4 cars. For BS6 cars, X-Clean should be used

@@pulkitkumara Finally had a chance to check the msds of the oil and it says 50% content is HYDROTREATED NEUTRAL OIL. This appears to be primarily Group3 since it says hydrotreated. Msds also indicates the presence of Esters, zinc and calcium. Appears to be having a good package overall
