Pull Starting a Ford 1000 Diesel Tractor - Cold Start a Tractor without Glow Plugs or Starting Fluid

We had let one of our friends borrow our Ford 1000 Diesel Tractor and it has been sitting out in the elements for a couple years without a cover over the exhaust. We showed up to pick it up and realized it was in an unstart able condition so we got it loaded up and brought it back to the house.
Before we unloaded it we checked to make sure there was fuel and just wanted to get it started and knew the best method would be to pull start it.
Even if the battery was good we had a feeling it wouldn't crank over so we started in high 3rd and you can see right away it starts smoking which is a good sign of combustion, and got it out on the road so we could gain a little speed and it fired off.
We plan on doing so work to it like replacing the injector seals, changing the oil and glow plugs but overall were happy to get it picked up and running again after several years.

Can you pull start a 1086 international tracker

1086 has a torque amplifier trans.. Ive never tried that before honestly. But it cant hurt to give it a go. Id start out in a mid range gear, get going and then let loose the clutch. As long as you can get the engine spinning at a decent rpm it should pull start. Thats a decent size tractor though so youre going to have to have another good size tractor or truck to pull it once those tires are trying to spin. Best of luck and let me know how it goes!

Please tell me you were just seeing if it would still run. If not than why not do the general maintenance beforehand. Hell just do it because it's to be done and it's fun.

Actually, I let someone borrow this tractor and it ended up sitting for years. Easiest way to get this thing running again is pull starting.
