That tow bar is ingenious! You might consider about a 50 HP utility tractor for doing that kind of thing, much better visibility, diff lock etc. Cool project!!!

Taylor Ray (KZbin) put at 24v common rail in a 6.4 a couple years ago, he goes into depth with everything. I believe he got engine and trans tunes (obviously you won’t need engine tunes with the 12v) from optimal welding (has a KZbin). Taylor also went to a low stall torque converter, but he used his truck mostly for towing. Maybe you’ll find some good info from these guys. Good luck.

Wow.. I'm pushing 320K miles on my 2002 7.3L.. 6spd manual, manual transfer case, manual locking hubs. This little tractor is unstoppable.. She's a leaky girl now, needs the oil heat exchange job.. and it has a small leak up top-- maybe some lines or maybe the pedestal.. Needs glow plugs, but still starts in the cold if I plug it in. Otherwise, she just keeps pulling. lol.. I got this truck at 170k miles for $7500, with no bed. I put a 9ft flatbed on it and built custom houses and metal buildings for over a decade-- pulling loaded down 5th wheel trailers and/ or heavy tool trailer virtually everyday.. It's the plain XL version, doesn't even have tilt wheel or cruise control-- has manual locks, manual windows, manual mirrors. ect.. But EVERYTHING STILL WORKS. I'd hate to have one of these new trucks that cost too much and then don't even last.

Number of years ago I wanted to drop a 12 valve into a Super Duty, since back then 6.0 PowerStroke trucks could be had cheap with blown up engines. But with the 6 being electronic on the throttle and the 12 valve being mechanical for the throttle pedal, I wasn't sure how to make it work. My thought was having to go with an older Super Duty with a 5.4 or 6.8 with the mechanical throttle body and gas pedal that it would be an easier swap. So I'm really interested in how the 6.4L throttle pedal to the mechanical 12 valve would go.

What would cause my 7.3 to lose power around 65-70mph? Doesn’t happen regularly, it is randomly. Rpm’s drop and nothing when I press the pedal. If I stomp on it enough it dumps black smoke. But still is bogged. If I let off when it Boggs and ease back into it, the power kicks back on and takes off.

With the issue your are having with that channel i was wondering if you have the option to just remove all the videos from the channel and then reupload them to this channel? Is there a reason thats not possible? Or maybe not delete the videos but, private all of them in order to reupload them to this channel? Also is there a reason you couldnt have the same videos from your old channel on this channel or will that create an issue with KZbin? Thanks.

In my professional opinion, the best thing to do with that 6.4L PARTS engine is to post it for sale on Craigslist or Marketplace and let it become someone else's problem. I'm sure someone out there could really use a cheap parts engine. If for some odd reason you can't sell it whole, part out what you can from it, & then just scrap the rest. Wasting your time on it, in any other way, is only like burning your money.

How does a 12V Cummins play nice with the existing transmission in the first place? That blows my mind. For that matter, that 6.4L has DEF and a DPF. How does the Cummins play nice with those? Or are you gonna yank those emissions components and risk the wrath of the EPA?

It sucks when you spend all that money on it truck. And you're cast into the fire. Poor quality and such it seems like do these producers of vehicles even test these things more than their little track outside for 10 mi. I want something that's going to last 10 20 years. I don't want to buy another vehicle. What I'm getting at is what happened to quality control. Where's the Ford one, the it's going to last a lifetime BS now it's like you spend $80,000 on a truck and within 50,000 miles you're going to have to spend another 20-30,000. Buy a used older vehicle. I miss the old days of points condenser alternator water pump with the stick shift because it the battery died you can still push start it. Not a $2,000 scan tool or the other 5,000 diet Gnostic tools you need to go with that overpriced scan tool. Okay rant over. Everybody have a blessed day I love you all.
