Only after watching this a few times do you understand just how incompetent Vincent is. Unnecessary starts beef with Butch which (likely) leads to his car getting keyed. Leaves his stash out leading to Mia’s overdose. Kills Marvin by accident. Escalates the diner robbery when Jules had it under control. Has the audacity to ask the wolf to say please when he’s doing them a HUGE favor. And somehow lets his target turn the tables on him, leading to his own death and his boss’s torture. A lot of this gets overlooked bc John travolta just looks cool while he’s screwing up

Music is a stylistic choice used to emphasize what’s on screen and what the storyteller wants you to feel. Personally I think music should be in a movie to more or less guide to the audience by means of audiovisual storytelling. Music in a scene can replace the need for words or emphasize them. Lack of music in a scene ironically can do the same thing.

These sorts of shots often aren't as technically impressive as they look. It is more than likely the camera is handed off to an operator through the fence, who emerges from frame left as the camera moves in, and is concealed with the towels directly before the hand off, hence the very noticeable pan to the left as the camera is "handed off" and the new operator is now framing. A little practice, and still super impressive, but a more likely explanation.

@@J_C_CH I think it’s a combination of things. Remember, this all starts after Jules and Vincent missed being killed in the apartment. Jules acknowledged that God spared their lives and gave up the life. Vincent on the other hand refused to believe. So after this, death followed Vincent, and blood stayed on his hands. The first proof is the gun mysteriously going off and killing Marvin. The towel. Same soap, same towel. No blood when Jules used it; his sins are washed away.. but it was still bloody after Vincent. Then he almost starts a shootout in the restaurant, but it takes Jules’ calmness and change of heart to de-escalate the situation. So when Jules leaves him when he returns the briefcase to Marcellous, his problems begin. Gets into it with Butch-his eventual killer.. basically kills Marcellous’ wife-but it takes his DRUG DEALER-not Vincent, to bring her back. Something his dealer never had to do. And then the minute he finally sits his weapon/protection down, death catches him. How? By the toaster saying his time is up and he’s toast.

@@chefpyroisin Just because there's a religious character goes on rants about religious superstition, doesn't mean we want to hear someone start making every detail about the movie, religious, when it's not. Vincent wouldn't have died if Jules was still around instead of going around like a bum based on superstitious coincidence.
@chefpyroisin Жыл бұрын
@@FU-PoliticalHumor that's hilarious that you started that comment describing how Jules main role in the movie is how he had a coming to God moment and wants to change how he lives his life, then proceeded to describe how it totally doesn't matter how Jules had a coming to God moment and insulted what he chose to do with himself just like Vincent, and ignores how the movie makes a point of how ignoring signs to do something with your life leads to you going down the path that's been clearly layed out for you (in Vincent's case getting killed on the job) I'm not religious, I don't believe in God, but the movie literally has a plot point about a character coming to God and how his belief in God allowed him to change his life for the better. Religious discussion is inherent to the movie and shouldn't be dismissed and ignored because a bunch of r/atheist rejects want to pretend that a good movie doesn't include religious themes

The movie is so brilliantly written that you dont even realize the fine details about the scenes the first time around, but if you think about what happens afterwards it clears so much in this scene.. Butch wasn't so silent that Vincent couldn't have heard him, but probably Vince and Marcellus were waiting in the flat since the night so Vince's defend was down, and expected the noises to be Marcellus arriving "home" with the donuts and coffee. The first time i was watching i didnt really understand what the fuck Marcellus did in the city so unexpectedly, i didnt realize the driving off scene was instantly after getting out of the flat. The movie is so subtle about all these details, and it is so amazing to see a movie that doesnt explain every shit to the viewer through dialoge.
