Grabbed this a couple weeks back and have been very happy with it. Not only great on the master, its become my main EQ across tracks for shaping alongside the kirchoff eq for some dynamic cleanup.

I just bought the AMEK 200 very recently, do you consider this a significant leap ahead in sound quality in comparison?

A video that compares them would be cool

They are both good EQs. I wouldn't say one sounds better than the other, they just sound different.

Why do some mastering plugins have a deesser in them? This softube weiss mastering plugin for example also has a deesser and i'm wondering why that is. I would say that de-essing is the mixing-/ or recording engineers job and if it wasn't done sufficiently in mixing, I would give it back and ask the mixing engineer to re-do it. Because putting a de-esser on the master bus can introduce unwanted effects, like squashing cymbals where that harshness is wanted. Perhaps someone has an explanation for me, i'm not a professional, it's just something that came to my mind while watching this.

Simple: when you pile on different sounds and frequencies, there is going to be an accumulation of harshness. Even if you de-ess at the source, there will be high frequency overlap: between the snare, hats, vocals etc. That’s where the De-Esser comes in.
