Ran a half marathon this weekend in the Deviate Nitro Elite 2 straight out of the box, loved it, am sure it'll take me to 42k with little problems, the stack is adequate, ive run Comrades in lower stacked shoes. Forefoot narrow though for my very wide foot, going bigger will make it way too long, i ran sockless, which i have done early on in my running, no blisters.

I feel the v1, while underwhelming in comparison to the shoes like the Vaporfly, works better for us runners looking for more stability and whose mechanics might not agree with the super stiff and aggressive plates over the marathon distance. Not to be discounted for the marathon simply because it’s less exciting than the competition!
@tomh9064 Жыл бұрын
Totally agree with this :)
@laurainthehaute918 Жыл бұрын
Yes I agree with this. The average middle of the pack runner might feel more secure in this one. I’m going to try it, as I love the velocity.

Do you have a versus nitro deviate 2? Have that one and doubting if I should get a new pair or ‘ upgrade’ to the nitro (for interval tempo hill and sprint sessions)
@matthewplampton955 Жыл бұрын
This shoe has been designed for Hyrox/ hybrid racing in mind, hence the added padding and grip. It's great for that. I personally found them bang average at 4:00km pace, but as soon as I ramped up to sub 3:30km pace the plate came alive and I felt really good in them.
@kaprikornian1 Жыл бұрын
Interesting that you say that because I am exactly looking for a shoe to take for my 1st hyrox and I was looking at this one as a strong contender (and the Deviate Nitro 2)
@matthewplampton955 Жыл бұрын
@@kaprikornian1 just raced a pro race on these last night. They are Perfect for it. The other popular choice amongst the pros is the Saucony endorphin pros. I have both, but personally prefer the pumas.

I am opting for non Carbon plated shoes for fast training (in my case Superblast and Tempo Next). Than I cant see how Deviate Nitro Elite 2 could be useful in my rotation. Thanks for other amazing review!

Thanks for the review. I wish they would have left the weight off the upper and put that weight into more of that great nitrogen-infused PEBA foam.

good morning. I would like to know if this shoe is suitable for half marathon / marathon and also for short training sessions, such as 5K, 10K. After 3 months, how is its durability? a big hug from Brazil 🇧🇷

found this for 105€ can I use it as a interval workout shoe ? Got the Cielo X1 for racing. Afraid it will be way too narrow for my wide feet as Puma usually is..

Hello Nick, I am left with the uncertainty of knowing where the Puma Deviate Nitro 2 are in this comparison. Are they better as a mixed training and competition shoe? Which one do you recommend more for better performance and more training benefits?
@TheHutchRuns2 жыл бұрын
I think for the price it is very good value but I picked up a pair of Vaporfly Next% 2 for £101 last year so they will be my cheaper alternative that can train and race

I can't wait to get a pair. 😩
@jamesotto7884 Жыл бұрын
So I would use this as a long run speedier training shoe. I have used old alphafly/vaporfly for this but I’m hoping that I get better durability with the puma

I wonder how much of the weight gain was from the change in the carbon plate. Not only was the Innoplate forked, but the Pwrplate looks thicker.

How do you think it stacks against the Deviate Nitro 2 (the non elite)?
@TheRunTesters2 жыл бұрын
Noticeably lighter and quicker, punchier off toes. Nitro non elite comfier and even better grip. A nice two-shoe pair that can cover everything if you don’t need a more cushioned easy shoe

What is the stsbility like on this shoe if you overrponate. Im currently in puma forever run.

Stability is the too notch for a carbon shoe. 50 times better than vaporfly
@kennethmonroe69392 жыл бұрын
I have the V1's. I find them good for 5K/10K distances, but nothing more. I ran 9 miles in them recently, and I found myself wishing I had more cushion in the latter miles. I got 2 pairs of the Nike Next % 2's recently for $100 each at a Nike Outlet. I picked up the Adidas Adizero Pro 3 for half price recently as well, and I have the Endorphin Pro 3 too. Cannot justify $200 for the Nitro Elite 2's.

The fact so many brilliant older carbon shoes are now discounted is going to make things v tricky for new shoes! Hard to really see a way new shoes can be considerably better
@njsfer Жыл бұрын
How do these compare to the Saucony's Speed 2? I have them and I was looking for a faster, more stable shoe but I also wanted durability.
@robin299912 жыл бұрын
I would think the best value carbon racing shoe is a discounted Next% 2.

This is the problem for a lot of new shoes to be honest! Even the Vaporfly 3 might struggle compared to a deal on the 2
