Well, I agree with David Pentecost that this woman's version is excellent, with a natural, unmannered expression.

@@javiervera2126 Jaroussky is very much criticized for doing chamber music. In my opinion he doesn't have balance in her registers as other countertenor may have. He is very uncomfortable singing this repertoire

Heard "À Chloris" for the first time on the radio, about one year ago. It was an instrumental version (piano and oboe, performed by Kimiko Imani and Albrecht Mayer). Searched youtube for it. The third version I found was this one, and to the very day it's the best version I've heard - beautifully arranged and brilliantly sung by Pumeza Matshikiza. Thank you for this amazing "piece of music"! 🙏🏽

This mélodie is clearly intended to be performed by a male singer, and not by a woman, as one may easily deduce from the words. That said, the singing in this performance, simply in terms of vocalism, is excellent.

Can the conductor please follow the singer? She's exquisite and gave him all the cues to rush the tempo. She was super clear with what she wanted with vibrato, dynamics and even her arms.

I agree and i've watched a couple of her interviews and seen a few of her videos on here . I can't think of any other way than just stopping and telling him , she gives him a sharp glance if you follow carefully , but as you so rightly put it.......she's exquisite , REALLY EXQUISITE .
@gerhardwaldhof4471 Жыл бұрын
I absolutely don't agree with you: She does not want the conductor to "speed up". She simply "conducts" in her way while singing, but this doesn't mean that she would want him to "speed up". To me "a wonderful piece of music", and thanks to all who enabled this!!!

A lovely song but why was it orchestrated; the Hahn original is so much more effective. There are other songs (from an album?) but they have not been "arranged"--so much the better. Alas like most singers who are not French trained the text goes by--a case of prima la musica.....The singer should have a great career as it is a beautiful voice and she has stage presence.
