I have a feeling I am going to watch this video a few times. I just bought a pump it up and this was in an arcade on location and I am going to bet it was never serviced. It is DIRTYYYYyyyyy but for 300 bucks and working outside of a monitor I think I scored a decent deal. I am hoping it is just dirty. It looks like it keeps rotating to the next song on start up. Hoping I can watch your videos and clean that baby up into a nice shine and make that baby purr like a kitten. Here is hoping at least. Love the videos man :D

Thank you!, I am pretty good with arcade machines but this is a different beast. The guy said he could have gotten a lot more for it if he wanted it parted out or to people that wanted to part it, but He wanted to see it in a nice home. It is dirty and not sure when it was serviced last just looking at the game pad screws. It is a DX, I am not sure the order of the games but maybe the third one that came out. I am looking forward to start cleaning it out. What is the best way you found to remove rust. I can see some rust around the plates already. I subscribed to your channel and love your videos :)

i use either a sandblaster or a grinder, but only do the spots that are actually rusted, you dont need to really worry about the paint or anything if its not flaking off and rusted under it. Ill warn you now with a sandblaster its gonna hurt like hell when it makes a U turn inside of the square pits where the lights / sensors go. Honestly you dont need to sandblast them but. it does work... it just hurts to do. and is stupidly messy / expensive. Maybe pay someone to do this professionally. and paint too. its just not worth the time if you dont have the tools.

Nirvash, could you put some subtitles on this video? This way I can translate and help a lot of people with their machines! Oh, if you can do it with the stepF2 video too, it would be awesome! Congratulations for this video, it will help a lot me and other people!

Excellent video! I had never thought of putting electrical tape on the pads.

6:40 can i use alcohol to remove the plaque?
@TheLittleCuteThing8 жыл бұрын
sensors are made of rubber, alcohol eats rubber and destroys it.

What size are those bar screws you recommended?

Would you have any idea on how to increase the height of the pads to make them flush with the steel brackets for the new pads? Everytime it gets near flush the acrews bottom out and holds the sensors down.

put something under the frames :) could use anything, even pieces of paper

My arcade manager doesn't want to use foam tape because it'll leave sticky residue and worried about warranty with Andamiro. So for now he's put bits of card underneath the L brackets. It works pretty good but not perfect. Better than nothing. Thoughts??

i got an old pad and the pressure of the base plastic for the seonsors sometimes keeps pressing it, i remember seeing here something you recommended as a replacement but i cant find it anymore, if you have the amazon link for that id appreciate it lots

Arcadespareparts is one of the only stores that sells them but they are expensive. It's better to use one of the sellers on facebook

amazing video! lots of tips and very helpful to me that am new ! =] do you have more content about maintenance or any links? I want to do a full revision in a cab on an arcade here, see if I can get it good to play and see if I can encourage more people to become pumper in my location ps: sorry my bad English lol

André Lima I have a few other videos all covering pad maintenance. but it's ass basically the same stuff. there is a restoration miniguide where I even strip the paint. though that's pretty unnecessary

what if you put some additional layers of electrical tape just on the contact area of the panels, instead of paper towel?
@TheLittleCuteThing8 жыл бұрын
Rafael Dornelles you could, but if you needed to remove some from using too much or needing to recalibrate the arrows it would be much more difficult

Makes perfect sense, thanks for the answer!

I'm wondering a few things about these piu sensors. How exactly are these sensors triggered/interpreted? They aren't contact sensors I presume. Are they piezoelectric? Do the individual outputs of each sensor need to go into a board that converts the varying pressure into on/off signals, or are the sensors completing a path for current flow in and of themselves? I'm just trying to wrap my head around how these sensors work and interface with the piu cabinet, and why they're used instead of contact sensors.
@TheLittleCuteThing6 жыл бұрын
They are contact sensors encased in rubber, Basically momentary switches containing 3 conductive surfaces in a pattern with two on the top and one on the bottom, If either of the top two are pressed down enough to contact the bottom one, it creates a circuit between the two pins on the foot PCB for that sensor. triggering an arrow press
@hubaswift76406 жыл бұрын
@@TheLittleCuteThing Okay, thanks! I was under the impression that they weren't contact sensors but it seems I was wrong. I've got an idea that I think I'm going to try out. I'll try taking large shrink wrap tubing, or maybe silicon tube, and put copper tape strips along the top and bottom, I'll have it so that the tube is already mostly flattened, but stepping on the panel will squish the tubing a little bit more making a connection. I'm curious how well that might work for a sensor footswitch.

Do you like those over the square LED's in your other video and would a super bright white color come out brighter than matching red blue and yellow? .. Sorry I was just about to order those square ones and went back to watch the video again where you said you synchronized the colors.; . Also, Sorry for all the questions but I've been watching your videos {and liking each one ;) } and saw the screw replacement figures in one of them. I am going to need to replace 95% of all the screws in my machine. I know I am going to need 120 6mm x 1 x 10mm (5134) but that is all. Not sure how many 5111 or even what screws go into the L frame. Anyway thanks for your time. I only screws that I know are good are all 120 screws that hold the sensor leaver in place and all the big heavy duty bolts in the back,... and well those 8 screws for the 2 back plates near those big screws. Sorry I have been up all night and took a part both dance pads to their frames. When I put up a video of this restoration process you are getting the biggest shout out lol

I used to use the different colored LED`s since its cheap but I switched to these for this build since they are super close to matching what an actual cab uses and this is a Verrrrry clean near new GX machine, So I wanted to try to keep the pads as original as possible. As for the screws, I replace absolutely every surface screw to the pad (Brackets, steel plates, and the sheetmetal protector plates) and I usually just order 120 of the 5111`s and 120 of the 5134`s. sometimes more since I like to have spares. The gigantic bolts that hold the bar mount to the pad frame I dont ever remove. But the two big ones that hold the bar to the bar mount I sometimes replace, I dont use bolt depot for it though, I go to my local hardware store and just pickup a couple of them so I can match since I can never remember the size.

Amazing videos. I'm learning a lot. I'm taking my platforms completely apart and not only deep cleaning but also putting in new leds, putting on new panels and decals around the sides. My platforms came with black bars which seems weird. Do you know a company that sells new red bars?
@TheLittleCuteThing7 жыл бұрын
Arcadespareparts used to, Otherwise you have to order through AndamiroUSA. You should either paint the bars you have or go to a metal shop to get some manufactured, It would be cheaper, trust me.

Theres some SD machines with them huge metal triangle pad corners/screws and its so bad to play in them! If i buy flat triangles and switch them will the pads be good to go? Or it is not worth it and should just buy cx/tx frames?
@TheLittleCuteThing7 жыл бұрын
i would have to see what you`re talking about to have an opinion on this. TX/CX frames cost you 1,400 per side though... So. you would be spending almost 3k USD before shipping
