Pump it up machines are probably the most common step rhythm game left in most arcades tbh. All the old hordes of DDR Extreme cabinets have withered away or gone into private collections, Konami only licenses the newer DDR cabinets, and StepmaniaX is just barely starting to come out in barcades. Pump has just been the most consistently supplied over the years, never too much never too little if you actually bother to look in arcades.

In any game or sport you can’t use mental power looking at your feet or hands, you gotta let your proprioception do it’s job while your eyes do what they do best: look for new info. Music virtuosos go a step further: neither looking at hands or music to concentrate all brain power on executing what they’ve practiced with their own style. Bonus points for modern music performers who must vibe with the crowd whereas chamber virtuosos get to define the mood for a quiet audience. So yeah it’s impressive. An impressive feat found in many artistic outlets, but that’s because it is impressive!
