I remember my Granny making this base recipe. She liked to customize it by changing the toppings too, she would also change the cookie on the bottom. For the fall she would use gingersnaps and stir in a little pumpkin and spices to the cheese mixture. My favorite was when she used chocolate wafers and top it with cherry pie filling. Thank you for reminding me of this.

Hi Grandma! Well first you are right, everything is smaller and these companies think we are stupid! Recently, I got a box of Whitman’s sampler chocolates. It was disgusting when I first opened it I realized they are no longer the original boxes, they’re cheap throwaway boxes. Secondly, there was only 24 pieces of candy in the entire box, and the chocolates were tiny and they tasted terrible. I wrote the company and they sent me a coupon for another box which was the same thing, so I will never purchase them again. I always call companies whether it’s good or bad and let them know what I think about it that’s what people need to do. From chocolates to cookies to even soap it has shrunk and they still charge you more. I’d rather pay more and get the original size is what I always tell them. Love the Halloween plate and Home Good is my favorite store. We have huge stores in FL and I can never go in and come out without a purchase. I got some great Halloween wooden lighted haunted homes there the I put it this year I think I’d like to try your recipe . I made Halloween cookies this year out a home made sugar dough and I decorated them with royal icing and they came out pretty good , again it’s a shame that you can’t post pictures on KZbin when you respond to someone. This year went so fast and before you know it Christmas will be here but I am looking forward to masterpiece theater on PBS to watch all creatures great and small season four. 😊 As always, thanks for posting , God Bless and be well …….Brian

Hi Brian I am very familiar with Whitman’s sampler chocolates. In the past I had purchased them often but I haven’t for a few years now. Thank you for letting me know. It seems everything is changing and not for the better. I do the same if I am not happy with something I purchase I will call the company to let them know. Home Goods and Marshalls are two of my favorite stores. I am the same way I seem to never walk out empty handed. I always find items I like or can use. How nice to hear you made Halloween cookies and decorated them. They must be delicious. I can’t believe how fast Christmas is approaching. I hope you try the cheesecakes and enjoy. I am just getting around to watching your wonderful videos. I was so sick with a stomach virus and had a fever to go with it. I am better now thankfully. Things seem to have shrunk except the price which has gone up. You're right that nilla wafers were bigger. Looks good and cute Grandma.

I have only used the vanilla wafers never oreo cookies. Someone mentioned that they have made the cheesecakes using a plain chocolate cookie with cherries on top. I think Grandpa would like it that way. Years ago he would buy the large chocolate cookies crush them up in a glass add milk and enjoy. I don’t even know if they sell them anymore. If we want to have a cookie I usually bake my own. Glad you like my kitten plate. The Cat is Boo and he is such a sweetheart. We have 13 gran cats each with a different personality. Ah, the incredible shrinking everything. A pound can of coffee is now 12 ounces, if youre lucky. 16 Ounce canned vegetables are now 14 ounces or less. I think even a 6 oz can of tuna has shrunk. Always beware when the package label, or product (such as soap), has a "New Look!", or something is "new and improved!". Usually there is product shrinkage involved as well. I know they're trying to hold the price point, but at some point it seems the product will disappear altogether! These look yummy, Grandma and Grandpa. I hope you have a pleasant Halloween, and enjoy all the spooky kids' costumes!🎃 My block doesn't seem to celebrate, and that's fine with me this year, since I wouldn't be able to get to the door in time to dole out candy. Who needs the repercussions of that!🧻 Have some fun for me!🧡
