Those carrots looked fine, i'd be happy with them from a bucket. That soil looked a bit dry to me. My guess is the roots will want to grow deeper than they can in the bucket for them to grow bigger. I great experiment grandpa.

Hi Grandpa, I think this is pretty good for your first try! The carrots are small but look delicious and you got a little something from everything, so good job! I’m so glad you’re not going to give up, but will take what you learned from this year and do better next year. Thanks for the update and hope you and Grandma enjoy the fruits of your labor❤

Kudos to you for the steps you took to create the lovely garden. Yes, a learning experience...but, overall - I (for one) would do it again. I enjoyed the 'garden episodes' on your channel. TY for giving us the review. 🎉❤

Be of good cheer! You did good! Every year is a learning experience. Some things you can't plant in a five gal bucket. Cherry tomatoes yes. Larger no. Need a twenty gal. Cucumbers need a twenty. Or plant these things in the ground. I was impressed you did so well with your carrots. Now plant a fall garden. You will learn. Good for the soul.

Did you feed the veggies? I wouldn't give up on using the bucket. This year I had my garden all planted and it looked pretty good. Then July 11 my pots disease stepped. It made me faint on the kitchen floor and I ended up breaking my hip. So between the operation and 7 weeks of rehab I finally came home with more rehab and the first thing they told me is no bending, no lifting, no crossing my legs no putting clothes on by myself and I think more no's than I could count. In the meantime, my garden went to _____. My husband is useless in the garden. I still cannot do anything in the garden but just look at all the weeds that grew. It kills me to see what happened to my garden and let's talk about weeding. Na let's not. There's always next year. I can't wait. Bye for now.

Did you teat the soil for PH and nutarians? We found our 5-gallon plants needed much more water and shade then when put directly in the ground. We the over-crowded the buckets the first year, didn't thin out enough plants, We also found we needed to add straw in the soil to avoid it becoming too compact. Now we rotate plantings from very sport grow time to long grow time, replanting the fast growers several times in a season. Don't give up....cherry-tomatoes are usually a winner ! Thanks for sharing your garden with us !

You may want to try bales of hay next year for planting. I saw another yt where they did it a couple years ago, and its all breaks down in the end. There are also fabric like sacks or bags that you can plant in. Wondering if the buckets get hot, and maybe retain heat.

Hey Grandma & Grandpa, How are things, hopefully going well. I have never had and egg cream, but I will now!! I Really Liked Munday's, it reminded me of a little restaurant that my Mom worked in near the Train Station in Lansdale Pa. It was called Sally Ann's and it was almost identical to Munday's, only a little bit smaller, it is now and Asian Restaurant with really good food, but the Soda Fountain/Counter is gone, still a charming simple building. Thanks again for sharing, my Cat Oreo says Hi Too 👍🙂😺‼️🇺🇸

Hi William great to hear from you. We are doing well. The leaves are starting to fall so we will be doing a lot of yard work before winter. Not surprised that you have never had and egg cream. It was invented in Brooklyn and was popular in New York. I hope you enjoy this drink as much as we do. Thank you for sharing about having a similar restaurant that your Mom worked in. Munday’s is very popular due to still having the Soda Fountain Counter and the reasonable prices for meals. Love to you and Oreo. Grandma 👩🏻& Grandpa👨‍🍳

This was absolutely precious! Thank you SO much for this lovely trip to Oyster Bay. Bonanza must give you such a sense of continuity with the past, and so many happy family memories. I live in a small Minnesota town but in the 1990s I lived 6 years in northern New Jersey. I grew to love the east coast. Its people and history are amazing and your video made me nostalgic to return for a visit! So interesting to learn of Teddy Roosevelt’s connection there. I’ve visited his Elk Horn ranch near Medora, North Dakota. He sure got around back then! God bless you both, and many thanks for your delightful video. - Robyn in Stillwater, MN

@GrandmaFeral There is also a shuttle bus from the Syosset train station to Oysterfest if you can't get there early to find a spot somewhere in town. Of course it gobbles up a lot of time, because the traffic is horrendously backed up by then on the small local streets in town, but it saves the hassle of trying to find a space.
