6:30 that note was so high you could barely hear it. And it was a powerful high, not a thin one. Damn man, Rob just reminding me why he's my Metal God.

Unleashed in the East has studio overdubs, incl. 'Victim' unfortunatly. Their two first albums and the rights to the songs belonged to Gull Records and not the band themselfs. This was a way for the band to regain some control over some of the classics from 'Sad Wings of Destiny'. This was not Rob's fines night during the 'Ram It Down'/Mercenaries of Metal' tour. He tries to sing the song in a different style. Rob screamed way too much during this tour. His voice was back in business in 1986-88 after he quit drinking, but he blew it during this tour. His voice was shot during the 1990 leg of the 'Painkiller' tour I recall. They had to drop 'Between the Hammer and the Anvil', 'Bloodstone' and 'Metal Meltdown' from the 1990 setlist because Rob couldn't keep up speed and notes on some of them. The best 1988 concert is San Diego 1988. 'Beyond the Realms of Death' is perfection there, 'Victim' is near perfection too. I saw them in Norway and Copenhagen in 1988 for the first time. Rob was not lowered down in the cage during 'The Hellion' intro. There was this black "tube"/mold-thing on stage and fabric and light-effects in orange was used to make it look like "molten metal" was poured" into the tube/mold, and during 'Electric Eye', Rob would appear out of it, looking like he had been forged in metal. They dropped this after the Scandinavian leg. It was a cool idea, but it didn't work the way they probably planned it to do. Kind of like Ozzy inside the monster from the 'Ultimate Sin'-cover, on that tour, where he was trapped inside it at least twice. :D Spinal Tap-moments! Rob also used a "laser cannon" and "shot" at the audience during 'Heavy Metal'. I think that one stayed for more shows. The effect can be heard during 'Heavy Metal' on the New Haven FM broadcast of the 1988 tour.

This is truly amazing! And great sound quality too! It'd be so great if you shared this somewhere.

I agree with you my friend, never heard such unreal thing like this !! In return of this tremendous share, watch this if you hadnt already: /watch?v=9QPQbk-WH2U !! One of the best Halford performances ever! After RID tour he just reached his peak at WOW tour. These incredibles moments wouldnt nevermore come back, but he will always be among the actual singers the best.

***** Rob sings this... Weirdly

Simon Christensen I think its bcs his voice is strained here, so he improvised :D He fucked his voice near the ending of 88 tour, the begening was his prime, imo :D That Sinner from San Diego...oh man...thats some hot shit :D
@SimonChristensen9 жыл бұрын
zexedearth89 He doesn't sound strained compared to the rest of the tour, but he just does weird and awkward phrasing.
@zexedearth899 жыл бұрын
That too, totally different phrasing when compared to the studio version, '79 Unleashed, 83 Dortmund, exc. :)

I don't understand why they put all this money into that 1986 Dallas concert when Mr. Halford. admitted his voice was not fully recovered from the previous concert. No human can sing those extreme vocal ranges night after night with out taken days off. Why. don't they digital remaster those old concerts for us real JUDAS PRIEST fans??

@@SimonChristensenrob is avoiding used his chest voice as much as possible, weakest part of his voice this part of the tour. The higher chest voice placement was an awkward placement for him at this point, but also too low to sit on mixed voice. So it ended up sounding like this, quite odd, but screams on point

By 1988, IMO: Priest were playing all of their live songs too fast...lost their feel

If any one needs me I will be over at the killer "Unleashed in the East" version of this classic. This is horrible, Rob is doing way too much (with melody change) on every sentence.
@KarlKeesel7 жыл бұрын
The1WhoKnowsTheTruth because is chest voice was in bad shape in this show so he used more head voice to compensate, same hapens in a german concert in 1984 i cant remember the city xd

That's the POINT!!! If you knew the real reason!!!! I'll take it to my grave. Just enjoy💖

But why to destroy a classic? The auto tune is not for rock, it even modify the guitars. So bad shit
