Been watching for a while now, the main gov guy. He always has this smurk look, like he wants to burst out laughing, i dont know whats up with him, but i get the vibe, like hes a killer, and the lava is covering up his dead bodys. Or like hes up to something. He rubs me the wrong way, ya know. Anyways, i wonder if there is any dirt on him?

Contractor with green shirt who did not id himself who spoke about plight of seniors dealing with acid H2O and Jason who has been locked out of his own living area had issues needing immediate action. They were well spoken and gave detailed information. Jason repeatedly stated that many farmers were affected by these concerns. This is first time as mainlander, viewing video of the terrible hardships of people of Hawaii, it seems as if bureaucrats are out of touch with immediate pressing problems resolution. This was a very sad ending to this video - prayers for the people of Hawaii. But what is necessary now besides heartfelt prayers is immediate action to truly help. Problems will only get worse if not promptly resolved. Bureaucracies are being proven to hinder rather than help those in great need.

ALOHA Everyone, All dis old Aunty can say is, "wow... so much disrespect shown to these residents!" Whether they were kanaka, haole, or whatevah, NOONE deserved the DISRESPECT they were shown and the Mayor should be ashamed of himself for shutting up every local that was there! Also, shame on EVERYONE who cites locals for walking on a road that takes them to their home WHERE THEY STILL LIVE! SMH! ;-( Hawai'ians know that our land belongs not to us but to the One who created it. For those of us Christians, that is God. But culturally, as Hawai'ians and Hawai'ians -At Heart, we know Aunty Pele gonna make a fuss if she is shown disrespect. So... although that may sound confusing to some, we know that if lava comes to take your home and land away, you have to accept that. We realize that no matter where on the island we live, we live on one volcano no matter how long we live there. God forbid we lose our home, there comes a time we must say, "Aloha 'oe" and be thankful for the time we did enjoy. There is a time and a place for everything under Heaven and God will be there to help us move on... but it's so painful to watch... Again, SHAME on those who think they can disregard the pain and suffering of everyone and shut them up because, what?? The mayor was voted in and if he's not careful, the public who trusted in him will lose their trust. There's a powder keg here that the Mayor and those who make the decisions are causing. If they don't show respect where it's due... I fear the anger could beget violence... and that solves nothing in the end, except injuries or worse. We should be better than this. Sorry my friends, Aunty wrote a book, eh? My proclivity to talk story. Please pray and send good thoughts to everyone affected in Hawai'i. Other islands are dealing with vog... even across the ocean, they're dealing with it. If you've never been in vog... it's rough on your breathing sometimes if its thick and poor folks who have breathing problems like asthma have a rough time with it. Mahalo nui loa (thank you so much) for all your prayers. Have a wonderful day/evening and don't forget to share your aloha spirit with others.

Darlene OHara the house was being refurbished and no one was living in it. You cannot get insurance on an empty house even though you still own it and it is being worked on and will be used and is still worth money. People have various reasons for wanting to stay. The number one reason is most likely that they do not have the money to move or have nowhere else to go. The other side of the coin is that these people put their entire lives and soul into making their properties beautiful and exactly what they want them to be. Does that sound like something you would want to just walk away from with a smile? And the reason that they all live down there in the danger zone is because most were deceived into believing it was never going to happen by the sellers when buying the properties

The way they were dismissed was completely inappropriate. That is no way to treat people; it alienates them, shuts down communication, indignifies them, offends and does damage to community relations. Whatever happened to diplomacy, empathy, courtesy, tact, and people-skills? To solving problems? Empathy goes such a long way, but dismissiveness causes reciprocal disrespect, and is extremely divisive. What was shown are NOT management skills, but alienation.

The helicopters have destroyed any semblance of privacy in Leilani and the surrounding subdivisions. The Pahoa area would be off life support with tourist $ if can get tours. Tours right down Leilani Avenue wouldn’t equal much more than the normal traffic Leilani Av saw on a daily basis, and probably less as the tours could be managed, have days off etc. Sure Kalapana was different, but so was Mauna Loa... both references are pointless bc the past is over/gone. If this event continues long time, no can live in Leilani brah, pau. The whole surrounding area will be uninhabitable during Kona winds, no can brah. If stay pumping like dis, in Kona winds brah, Pahoa pau.

DLNR needs to put forth some sort of effort to rescue the green turtles that are stranded. I've heard many very valid complaints here, to not have someone in Pahoa who can give out the placards, sounds like it would help many people. Talmadge, I get the impression you're trying to do your best - but I don't think you're getting as much backing as you should be receiving from Mayor Kim, the County Council, and even Gov Ige. Unfortunately for the residents of Leilani Estates, Fissure 8 and the river of lava are probably the hottest tourist attraction in the world right now (no pun intended). The State of Hawaii government will be under huge pressure by the tourism industry to allow as many visitors to view Fissure 8 and the lava river as possible - regardless of how local residents fell about it - especially if the eruption lasts months or years as the USGS has predicted. Too much money on the line. Probably the best that local residents can hope for is to receive a fair price from the state for their properties and real help in relocating. If I were in their shoes, I would insist on a provision from the state that - should the eruption end - gives local residents who sell out the option to repurchase their properties at the price of $1.

What these residents don't seem to understand is that pretty soon their homes will be nothing more than a lava field and when that happens they will be wishing they could access some type of monetary assistance which could be raised through lava viewing. Unfortunately it seems the majority of native Hawaiians are very racist and hold a lot of bitterness and resentment towards Caucasians, which seem to be what that first speaker was alluding to when he was giving a reason behind this eruption being more "angry".

Saying officials don't care, couldn't be further from the truth. If they didn't care the entire area would be off limits. The would block access to everyone. But they do care. Which is why they are working 24/7 to ensure those who've decided to stay in the evacuation zone remain safe. It would be a lot easier and cheaper to kick everyone out and lock the area down until the eruption ends. Look what happened last week. A tour boat was allowed to get closer than the 300 meter safety zone and now one woman's life has been changed and other will be scarred for life. Exceptions to the rules can and do spell disaster. As for the state wanting to take land.... Why? They receive tax revenue for each acre of land privately owned. Even more tax revenue for each acre farmed. It doesn't make sense to take away revenue. Some of the questions asked can't be answered because this eruption has no end date. Others questions can be addressed privately. Talmadge said he would speak to those waiting to ask a question. What he was trying to avoid is everyone there listening as each person got up to complain rather than ask a relevant question. Systems are in place based on what works for nearly all disaster responses across the country. The issue with not allowing friends to drive into the neighborhood is to deter people from have fifty friends and their vehicles in the area for another lava viewing BBQ. Once you allow one exception, you must allow all others to have the same exception. The gentleman fixing up a rental. He was having friends visit from another island simply to take them to see the lava. That's not acceptable. Now he has a new tenant? That shouldn't be allowed in an evacuation zone either. Granted the rental is in the voluntary evacuation zone. If remaining residents allow friends to visit freely the streets would be congested. If or when a mandatory evacuation is required, traffic could cause loss of life as people try to flee fast moving lava. Living in an evaluation zone isn't supposed to be easy. If you want easy you're going to need to move. While nobody expected this to happen in their lifetime, the warning was there from the moment you purchased your property. Sad? Absolutely. Surprised? A little. Nobody did or could have expected this volume of lava. As for contractors.... Residents can drive to the entrance to escort the contractor and their vehicles to their property. As this drags on they'll likely have some sort of computer notification system at the checkpoints so homeowners can remotely notify the checkpoint of an approved contractor. And yes, unfortunately there's going to be situations where someone such as the elderly won't be able to drive to meet a contractor. As always there is going to be a learning curve for each emergency will be slightly different. Additionally, you can't please everyone. Especially those who feel they're entitled to more than what is necessary. Imaging doing all you can, within your powers, while going out of your way to satisfy everyone only to be yelled at every day. How much of this will you really take? Especially when most of what's being asked of you, you can't possibly provide. Lastly, their is no angry God deep in the mountain. It's simply the plates moving. Preaching Pele this and Pele that is BS. Com'mon people. It's the 21st century. Science can now explain why the earth works the way it does. Yes, we still have more to learn. One day we may even have a way to divert flows, stop eruptions, or start eruptions to create new islands to expand the Hawaiian territory. Keep real traditions alive but forget all the fantasy. On top of the authorized housing in the area you have unpermitted houses. These homes shouldn't be occupied at all. If anything, the state/county should be bulldozing all unpermitted structures being used as housing. If your home is not permitted, don't expect FEMA to pay out.

They didn't yell, UNTIL he dismissively shut down their opportunity to voice their concerns. It communicated that he didn't care, whether he realized it or not. The people were treated dismissively with real rudeness, and there's no excuse for that. Tact and diplomacy weren't used, but alienation and disrespect through dismissiveness was. It sent the message that their concerns weren't shared. People generally won't go speak one on one with those that alienate them. Alienation is not the way to treat people. If they care, it is a simple thing to give a call to the cell-signal provider to bring in a mobile unit. They can give these people answers, but there were none. So many concerns and needs were voiced, and then they were shut down. This is not emergency conditions protocol or solutions; people are not to be treated that way. It was very disrespectful; dismissiveness is alienating. He needs to use tact, empathy, diplomacy, have interest, be solving problems, give answers, be developing plans that address needs, trucking in water or dealing with the issue, and kindly dealing with the people. Alienating them only damages community relations, and causes reciprocal disrespect. No one, but no one, appreciates being treated dismissively. It was very poor judgment. Leadership needs to use people-skills, or they won't follow; they'll be leading no one.

Krissy Ross, that's news, but I'm thousands of miles away from Hawai'i, so you'll have to explain. Where is the fracking? It has to be quite some distance away from Kilauea, since that volcano is only a baby; a couple of hundred thousand years old, which will one day become comparable in height and size to its four older sisters. Thanks.

RWBHere Some people argue that it isn't " fracking", that it only provided energy for the region. Just weeks ago, the magma flow entered the property on which the place stands, VERY close. I forgot the name of the place, but look on the map not far from Leilani Estates/lower Puna, or see more videos of this locale, and the volcanic flow in this area > the lava flows right by it. This painted-light-green place (the structures there) are essentially on the " foothills" of the volcano. Many people swear that fracking doesn't trigger seismic/volcanic/geo-active responses, while many say it does. At the moment, all I can recall of the name is something like Puna Geo-thermal/something Venture (?).

If she or he wishes to take the decision and go to a risky zone, well... sign a document and is free to go. Is this a big formal problem?! Weʻre not racist. We love when people want to come and visit our home. Personally, Iʻve entertained hundreds of visitors... from friends and family to new-found-friends... they become friends for life! They ALL have an awesome time. Some even come to move here. But they respect the culture, donʻt try to assimilate people here to their cultural views, mores and norms... and embrace our land and help us take care of it. Eh... Hawaii has a way of making you her own, so to speak. And we welcome that. But for the arrogant, rude, selfish people who want to take, take, take without giving back.... eh, do us a favor and donʻt come. Period.

If anything that is the one message that comes through loud and clear since I started watching the eruption and reading through the comments. Native Hawaiians clearly have a lot of bitterness and resentment towards Caucasians and there is a lot of violence against tourists and Caucasian residents reported in their news. I would spend your tourist dollars elsewhere, it is very clear if you have the wrong color skin your money is welcome there but you are not.

Please take some time to learn the history of Hawaiʻi. I recommend Haoles in Hawaiʻi by Judy Rohrer and Aloha Betrayed by Noenoe Silva. You will find that there is a difference between prejudice and racism and that locals and Hawaiians are not racist, but have legitimate grievances.

Somebody needs to start listening to these folks in the areas that have been threatened and devastated by the lava flows. I can't imagine what it must be like to live with the uncertainty and lack of meaningful communication with the very agencies that are supposed to be helping. Add to that the intrusion of the helicopters and disregard for personal property. It's truly heart breaking. Mr Rogers would say, "look for the helpers", in times of hardship and tragedy. Those who are a part of the agencies assigned to this situation, please can't you find it in yourselves to be those helpers? If only just to have a listening heart. That's not hard to do. My thoughts and prayers for the communities there and for those who are the helpers.

This disregard, dismissiveness, rudeness, disrespect is NOT the way emergency conditions or the people suffering, are to be handled. There is a long established protocol of how emergency conditions are to be handled, and apparently, that isn't happening here. It is unethical and inappropriate for them to be dismissive to the people. There are real needs, and apparently, the people aren't being heard. Before 1990, when were emergency conditions or the people in an emergency ever treated badly? This is unconscionable, regardless of where it is. There are humane ethics that need to be upheld.

Why do people have trouble logically staying within context?

These are the risks all knew when they built there. This is why it's was so cheap to do so. What will the whole southeastern coast do if and when loihi blows. For those that don't know what loihi, is its the formation or a new island a few miles out. Our island has been active all my life, my fathers life and my grandfathers and his father before him. As Kilauea collapses and widens, do they not understand that Mauna Loas turn is soon. God lives here this is not destruction but creation, more so a cleansing. So much of that coast is full of staphylococcus we know as Mrsa. Many residents and visitors have contracted flesh eating bacteria from the warm ponds. Most homes on the coast in puna have contaminated the water there with residential sewage waste. It is a shame that homes were lost, but did we not tell u over and over, yes we did, did u not laugh as we told you. Some must learn the hard way. Pahoa next.

There is no way an option that all need to help each other. However I do believe the county should be responsible for the water issues and should be delivering water if it is needed. the money is there how much has fema given and how much went to residents I would want the numbers for sure to be public.

Tear down a few houses for parking, build a elevated viewing station, get two busses and start to get part of the $100/head the choppers are getting. When it’s over at least they all would have a nest egg to start over with and Puna could start to get some tourist $$ back.

This effected should see if anyone has access to a camera and post updates and concerns of their own in KZbin , FB and Instagram. Be vocal. Be safe and demand your voice. Damage was great early keeping people informed but this side seemed abrupt turn around. I suspect he will be running for Mayor the next election. Just know stand your ground respectfully and too with tolerance as to the realities. This is horrific. Not that it helps but others share your concerns and to it gives us insight to the realities if a disaster and how incredibly long things take and the raw emotions and frustrations in dealing with bureaucracy and you own you home and land. They go home to a fresh shower and clean bed. You should neve be shut down so coldly. You paid damn taxes to the city and state. Please try and join forces. As victims there us more power organized. Linda Gill yes ,it is a geological event caused by the geo thermal plants continually fracking on the fissure line. This ground is only about 300,000 years old, the youngest on the planet. They went along the fissure line to get the most power from it causing the two craters to fall. This particular lava flow is actually over 100 yrs old, wait until the newer lava starts coming through. It’s gonna be hotter & quicker. This whole part of the island is actually sinking now. Thats why they cant open a lava viewing area. Park is done too. Hope the government thinks the plant was worth it.

All these complaints are various symptoms of a single problem. Instead of using the minutes to share your horror stories, use the minutes to state on the record what the Root Cause/Causal Factor of these various symptoms you all are enduring. That Causal Factor is: The Slavery of Human Conscious by illusory constructs - such as government, authority of man, mans law - that are empowered by the beliefs of those enslaved, ultimately manifesting in reality as absolute immoral institutionalized systems of hierarchy that claim the Divine Right of Kings. These kings(Government and Politicians) use House Slaves known as Police and Military to enforce their claim of Divine Rights, (Jurisdiction, Authority, and Laws) which grants them the ability to afford Rights to some and to revoke Rights from others, as they see fit. The unalienable and innate Birth Rights of every human being, is illegitimately dissolved through Authoring Laws that make it so! This is the ROOT CAUSE of ALL problems in the world. Use those minutes to stand in the TRUTH and demand they respect your Rights as an individual. Explain that further immoral Government attempts to illegitimately dissolve the Natural Law Rights of human beings, through acts of violence(what police like to very incorrectly swap with the word "Force"), will be met with whatever amount of Defensive Force is required to ensure those Natural Rights remain unmolested. You are human beings, free men/women with the same unalienable Rights, every human being in this world innately possesses which have been endowed to each individual by the creator. ( whatever you wish to call it; god, the universe, the underlying intelligence that gives rise to life, etc) These Rights are granted by The Laws of Nature alone. The Laws of Nature are what govern the dynamics of all forces within the Universe. These Laws are absolute, unwavering, and undying. No single man or group of men, can change the Laws of Nature. Not now and not ever. The belief that the consciously enslaved hold: Where the Authority of Man, Man's Law, Jurisdiction, or any other construct of man, is somehow primordial over Nature... Is simply and absolutely false. Its a lie. The Truth being the polar opposite. Those beliefs do not exist in reality, cannot exist in reality, and will never become factual or moral in reality. First lets define 2 words: Immoral: Any initiated action, which results in harm to another person or their property Moral: Any initiated action, which does not result in harm to another person or their property. Then Apply these to the Innate Rights all human beings possess: You have the Right to take any action you so please, as long as the result does not cause harm to another individual or their property. This is where our True Rights, our True Freedom, is dissolved through fear. The immoral controllers will sell you cold comforts in exchange for sacrificing a portion of Rights. General Example (Please don't take this out of context and compare it to Man's Laws): Driving down a road at any speed you want, while ill-advised because you might hurt someone, is still your moral RIGHT. Once your action of driving, causes harm to any person or property, then it becomes immoral. You were morally correct to drive at any given rate of speed, however you exercised your RIGHTS and ultimately harmed someone or property in doing so. Therefore, becoming immoral. Opposed to any alternative: Initiating any action, to avoid harming another person or property by modifying speed to avoid said harm. (insert any number of given alternatives here) In this scenario, many people respond with, "That would be total CHAOS!!! Id never drive because Id be too scared!! Big Daddy Government, steps on in with the resolution! Well revoke everyone's Right to travel, call it a privlidge, profit from various fees, impose speed restrictions, and a plethora of other "SAFTEY Measures" to make sure things aren't "CHAOS!!!". Does that make you *FEEL* safe enough to drive now? Oh yes, big daddy! Thank you!! The problem with this is obvious: No 1 person or group of people can initiate an action that causes harm to another person or property. Through all of the aforementioned "Safety Mechanisms", they all begin by punishing anyone who doesn't conform to those demands. This compliance is only acceptable if done so contractually or voluntary. Those who choose to continue as they were, not conform, and not comply with these demands, have the ABSOLUTE MORAL RIGHT to say NO. Moreover, the demands themselves do not inherently create Safety. Those mechanisms only factually create a *feeling* of safety, also known as a cold comfort. This is because the actions or words change nothing in reality and only influence an individuals emotions. Benjamin Franklin said, "Those who are willing to sacrifice a slice of freedom for a few cold comforts, will lose both and deserve neither." Wrapping up the closing minutes with this: Government claims that they derive all their power FROM the people. If that were the Truth, explain how.... If 1 person or 1 group of people do not possess the Right to do these things because they are immoral, how does the government inherit these Rights FROM the people? Their proclaimed source of ALL power. *** (Recall the immoral and moral definition above? Immoral: When any 1 person or group of people; initiate physical force, that results in harm to another person or their property - AKA "Violence" - AKA "NOT A RIGHT") How then, does the Government claim to have the "Authority" to grant Rights to some and Revoke Rights from others? Where do Police garner the Right to detain people - in any form such as - on the side of the road who haven't factually harmed anyone or property? The list goes on and on. What Right do they have to Tax 25% - 50% of the fruits of your labor? We used to call a spade a spade. Taxation is plain and simply a well established and well defined form of slavery. If you dont "willingly" the government to steal x%, you will be imprisoned. IF a person is being accosted with Violence, they have the Natural Law Right to defend themselves, using whatever means necessary, and with any amount of *FORCE* necessary to stop the Violent action from causing them harm. Think about the many different forms of immoral actions taken in this single question. 1. Is your property or persons suffering from harm/damage as a results of the "Town Rules" to stop people from taking pictures of Nature? What types of harm to persons? What types of harm to property? Financial, Emotional, Physical, etc... THAT is what needs to be discussed, on the record in every village, town, city, county, and state meetings where the public can speak. This is not a concept that can be debated. This is the inherent and eternal Law of Nature that can never be changed in this domain that we all exist in. Its time to break out of this mental prison that controls the mind of so many. Its time to free your conscious and become an authentic individual or one who is not divided. Its time for humanity to rise up against the institutions and individuals who knowingly propagate this agenda and educate those who are just useful dupes, or who were "just following orders". Just following orders is not an excuse to cede your moral obligation to consciously decide *for YOURSELF* if the action you are taking is RIGHT or WRONG. Its well past time for Truth, Freedom, and prosperity for all human beings.
