This band reminds me of my sister that has passed. Growing up with her, I would always hear Punialava'a music playing while she was doing chores. Thank you for ressurecting such an icon from the 70's and 80's. May God bless your family abundantly always.

I loved this group back when I lived in Samoa 1978-1981. They were the soundtrack of Samoa on Radio 2AP every day and night as we sat around the face and prepared the evening meal and helped the kids with their homework.

It was humble for Reverend Lale Peteru to acknowledge Rev Mua Sofi Pua. The many dignitaries, more importantly both you and your wife's ancestors. A talented and humble man. God bless you and your Faletua Vini, family, Punialavaa. Thank you

It is even more culturally appropriate for this award as this is Aotearoa, the home away from home for most Samoans outside Samoa to show that the Samoan language is a beautiful, deep, soulful language and our identity. Malo Punialavaa. I hope other Samoa musicians get the same recognition. God bless.

Awsome to see the Punialavaa Great to see you guys it's been a long long time, I remember my teacher at vaimauga back in the 80s and cousin Vini Glory to God

Congratulations to Punialavaa for this lifetime achievement..Well Deserved..However, I for one grew up listening to their music, and I must say that the lasting impression that I still have is the string band of the original Punialavaa. Disapppointed that there isnt a single word of gratitude of even a recognition of any of them in this speech. I believe that there is a deliberate ploy to ignore them and instead direct the focus on his wife and family as the "Real Punialavaa". By mentioning their parents( I say this with due respect), the implication is that Punialavaa only began when his wife joined in 1980...Guess what..that means Punialavaa is only 30 years old not 50..Yes, ladies and gentlemen, the shrimp only started singing 30 yrs ago, not 50..Malo Rev, you are a man of God, tell the truth...to the REAL PUNIALAVAA, Papu, Vitale...etc...PLSE STAND UP AND BE RECOGNISED....

Tofuola Tapaleao oh don’t get hung up on the historic detail.. many award winners forget to thank people... it doesn’t always mean it was a “ploy” or “deliberate”...

Nuuli Tafuna the malae in Vailele are Niniva ma Punialava'a, hence the name #Vailele #TamaitiOLePuni #TamaOLeMafoa #TeineOLePapaloa
