Well it's the ptsd and he blames himself too about his family said they were gone because of what he knows so that's why he says he's dead too he knows that the life he had is over he can't see much of anything good in the world anymore and he's disgusted I think now he has nothing pleasant to distract him from all the ugliness of crime and corruption. As a soldier he was taught to take out the enemy so now he's just a workoholic.

Phylyp Dečuk You miss my point. The majority of baddies - he just out right kills. The recurring baddy problem is worse for the punisher than it is for Deadpool. If a badguy SURVIVES an encounter/story with The Punisher, it's usually because the Punisher had to pick between a deadlier badguy to pursue, Or the surviving badguy in question managed to pull strings so that he wasn't directly in the Punisher's path. Either way, there's a lot of hiding, running, and fearing for ones life involved. And that can only happen so many times before Punisher eventually catches the bad and kills the phunk out of him/her.
