I've heard so many trance songs do the rising beats into the drop enough times that Narwhal's drop really caught me off guard. The soundscape gives me the distinct feeling of ascending skywards, faster and faster and climbing higher and higher. And what's really special is that they don't drop the beat _immediately_ , they give you these quiet, breathless two seconds as though you've just broken through the clouds, you're hanging in the air at the apex of your ascent, and you just _breathe_ . And THEN the drop hits and it's like you're rocketing back towards the earth at breakneck speeds. For some reason I am picturing a mecha pulling off this exact maneuver, the rockets flaring to life as the drop happens and zooming downwards back through the clouds with this unstoppable kinetic force. It's exhilarating.

@Carsu122 жыл бұрын
@@sleeplessknight173 Prepare for shaky start then, but I guess this is the case for most gatcha game stories. At the beginning the story is kinda random and all over the place, but around midway through (what is available in Global) it starts getting really deep and interesting. And you can feel them putting the budget into it, with much more extensive dialogue and even CG cutscenes sprinkled around. Also prepare to get your heart stomped upon multiple times if you decide to go through character backstory chapters, they really pull no breaks there.

I first checked out PGR because of the gameplay I saw in the app store. I stayed because of its overall feel and quality. This song essentially became PGR's anthem for me. At first, I also experienced Narwhal as any other electronic song. However, when the boss fight of Frozen Darkness hit with all of the beats and vocals coming together along with the character you get to play at that time (Alpha), I became *Motivated*. It caught me completely off guard and I've been playing it religiously ever since. I fell in love with this game more than any other and it's a mobile gacha game. If you do play it, you'll understand why we love the game. The gameplay is closer to DMC than something like the usual mobile idle games where it's a matter of numbers with low effort stickers. In fact, Alpha, the red person in Narwhal's background image, is basically Vergil's daughter. Not simply in lore, but actual gameplay.

Fun fact: PGR has a re-run for the story of the patch named Untold Naraka (a collab with NieR:Automata) in this moment. It allows you to see how the constructs (characters from PGR) fits just perfect with the NieR:Automata world, just like both games belong to the same universe. You can play with 2B, 9S and A2, even you can have them on your account if you can get them from PGR's collab gacha. Also, CN server will be having its second collab. "This is one song out of the whole game. Who knows how the rest of the soundtrack is, does anything else live up to that?" Indeed, I do recommend Punishing: Gray Raven's other OSTs, or, more broadly, Haloweak/Vanguard Studio's whole repertoire. "Narwhal" is one of the highlights but the other tracks, like "Hikari", "Dust", "Lamia", "Revelation" - among many, *_many_* others - are just as good if not better.

Ok so pgr is a Chinese action mobile gacha game, the music throughout is really good and I honestly can't pick a favourite, I have like 4 or 5 tied for what I say is the best one, despite being gacha it's one of the more f2p friendly ones however it's also one of the harder ones to play, if your bad at the game your bad at it even if your a whale that spends tons of money. Honestly only bad thing I have to say about it is that the story starts pretty weak, chapter one through eight are a pretty slow start but after then it's really good.

I just started and I’m still in the early game, I don’t really mind the slow pace and I actually kind of like it since it helps set up everything else later down the line. Then again, I generally appreciate slower and more lore-heavy media anyway so I could be a bit biased lol.

Several games inspired Kuro in the making of PGR. Mainly Nier Automata as it directly uses Gestalt in their world for the name of a super computer. The setting also draws heavy inspiration from Nier in which a man made virus (the Punishing Virus) infects ai on earth forcing humanity to retreat into space onto a ark esque city called Babylonia. On the game's first anniversary in July, there was even a collab between PGR and Automata which is currently being reran. Other games that had a more minor influence are mainly action combobased rpgs like DmC (Alpha, the girl on the left in red of this track's background fondly draws parallels to Virgil as she mainly utilizes Iai and sword waves in her moveset, with her ultimate just straight up being Virgil's Judgement Cut), there is also a bit of a Metal Gear Rising Revengence inspiration as well. Vanguard Sound really are blessed to have such a bang up team of people under them, really wish more of their stuff was on spotify but, if I could reccomend other tracks. The most popular ones are Hikari, Lamia, Revelation, Holy Moonlight, and Last Resort. There is even a secret mix of Narwhal that has a 7% chance of playing in only a specific stage done by another prominent artist under Vanguard Sound by GhostFinal. Cool to see you dive into PGR's music man, cheers for the video hope to see more analysis of PGR and Vanguard Sound. (・ω・)ノ

Your comment about electronic music often sounding the same - I don't know if I'd apply that to all electronica, but I do remember that a lot of folk in my sixth form liked EDM, and when they had control of the CD player in the common room, my group who wasn't into EDM would sometimes wind up at the end of our free period trying to figure out exactly how many songs there'd been on the album that had been playing throughout that free period - If it was one or several. And not in the way something like Jeff Wayne's War of the Worlds is kind of hard to distinguish between where the transition between songs are. In the 'I can't tell the difference between each thing on this disk' sense. And in the context EDM is designed for? That's probably fantastic, since it likely gives whoever's DJing the set the most freedom to crossfade, mix, and whatnot to drive the energy of for the optimal club experience. But as a soundtrack to sit back and chat over, catch up/get ahead on homework, and play cards to... Not so much.
