Wow the Australia version definitely lists way higher on creativity, skills and technique compared to its American counterpart. I mean here we have half the people undercook their meat every week and the most dreaded dish is a souffle.
@Phonixrmf
@Phonixrmf 5 жыл бұрын
Same with Indonesia. Why is it, I wonder. Maybe Australia has a better food culture? Being so multicultural. I certainly feel that way when I was there.
@Luis_Domingos
@Luis_Domingos 5 жыл бұрын
@@Phonixrmf I'm not sure what the format for Masterchef Indonesia is, but Masterchef Australia really likes to take its time with the contestants and the actual tasks. For example, a regular elimination challenge takes a full 50 to 60 minute episode (and there are 5 episodes per week for a good 10 to 12 weeks, and eliminations happen twice a week), and that gives you more time to watch the processes involved and to get to know the contestants. The American version at least is 42 minutes long, packing a Mystery Box + Elimination all in one episode, which is super hectic imho (plus the network editing makes it seem even worse). Australia is very multicultural as you say, but that also means they receive a lot from the surrounding countries (it's super common there to have contestants who are foreigners or Australians with Italian, Greek, Southeast Asian, Korean or Middle Eastern ancestry; Ben Ungermann, the runner-up from Season 9, is Australian with Dutch and Australian ancestry). Cultural differences aside, most Masterchef versions usually don't have 60 to 70 episodes per season, and don't devote single episodes to single challenges, which makes it impossible to have challenges of this level of difficulty.

I really love how diversity elements you put in the show. This episode you have cute chef with punk hairstyles and no one care to bully about. Besides in some country, they will criticize how the chef look more the how talented they are. I really hope that people respect and accept more than outside appearance

Okay hear me out - while I understand it makes a really inspiring story to say you’ve left your job, your home, everything behind to pursue your dream of being the next master chef (and I don’t doubt he did) can we just agree that it’s a *_TERRIBLE_* idea to bet your entire life on a competition filled with people just like you?? If you don’t know what you are going to do to live outside of the competition should you not win that says you are not stable enough to enter. Because the odds of winning are what? 1 in 25? 1 in 20? Heck let’s say it’s 1/10 that’s still not a good enough set of odds to risk your entire life on.

Heaven Lance or it means that he has the balls to go after his dreams and risk. That does not make him unstable.

If someone puts themselves in that position, they generally have family support to go back to. They just bring it up in the competition to try and win sympathy points.

@Deniz Gunes Honestly I think she makes sense. I disagree with the way she worded it but yes it would be generally be considered unwise to throw everything away to chase your dreams in a competition with people that are equally as talented. Especially in a show such as this where the winners aren't even guaranteed fame etc. I'm not sure what the rewards of master chef Australia are but at least in hell's kitchen the winner has a chance to become a head chef of a restaurant. The risk seems way too large for the reward. Sure you can commend his balls and all but what if he fails (which is statistically pretty likely)? How many years has he set himself back because he chase this dream? What about his significant other if he has one? What about his parents? We only see the success stories of people who chase their dreams and we constantly forget that behind one success story of people like that there is a mountain of people who failed.

Sorry I’m never paying attention to the notifications on KZbin. I just wanted to clarify I’m not calling HIM unstable. I’m saying his situation is not stable. Aka financially stable - if you don’t know what you’d do or not even have a single idea of where to begin should you loose in this type of a competition that’s putting yourself in an unstable situation where you’re forced to rely on family, friends, and your loved ones to get you by. Which while I’m sure he has SOMEONE to go back to it’s not fair to ask them to do that nor is it smart to enter if that’s your only sure fire plan in the event that you’d loose. Again inspiring? Yes. Does he have guts? Absolutely. And I can’t even begin to speak about his talent as he’s on a completely different level than I am. (In a good way y’all). But nonetheless if he fails like the other 19 plus people who have to for someone to win he’s not setting up the best path for himself. Sympathy points sure but this isn’t a competition where we get to vote to save them nor does their backstory save them if they spill their dish on the ground and serve nothing. Story or not it’s a competition and this mindset of “all or nothing” can be a bit scary when you look at the odds of getting the “all”. deathendz thanks for your comment by the way- Id like to think I express my thoughts well but based on the reaction I have to assume I didn’t do that this time. But you understood what I was trying to say and I feel like you definitely explained my thoughts better than I did originally so thank you for that🤗🍀
