How much money do you need to retire over there?

Depends on your lifestyle, so it's how long is a piece of string. Thailand is a lot cheaper than the UK for a lot of things (accommodation, non-western food, etc.) But you'll need health insurance. You'll spend more if you're in a tourist area like Phuket, partly because it's so much easier to spend money in a tourist area. Biggest problem for a Brit is that your state pension will be frozen in Thailand. No increases at all, let alone the triple lock.
