Hey ben in the 53 hand would u ever get to this river with 33-55,im assuming they are raised some freq on flop vs this sizing,and then on the turn if u decide to raise they have 2 outs to improve which is kinda "best draw" u gonna have in this spot if u are repping only 2x?
@minimon30003 жыл бұрын
I don't even think it's a disaster lol, assuming he's gonna call some Ax if he's a gto reg and presumably he calls AK,Q,J,5,4 of diamonds and folds the others? Or at least mixes with them. Would much prefer 45dd tbf because we don't have 23s full frequency so A3 less likely to call(3d not great blocker)

Nick shows just how corrosive some ill-conceived range thinking is. 88 (rivered set hand) maybe the top of hero's range but it's still a fold if villain doesn't bet, 3-bet enough worse hands. So what if we are always folding in this spot. We will never see it again and if, by some cosmic fluke, the universe does dish out the same run out and action and hand for hero, it'll be a different opponent who won't know anything about this hand and won't be able to discern anything from seeing this hand in this video. I love BenaBadBeat's approach as shown in the last hand. It is so perfectly right that villain will be sat there going "This guy's an idiot, he so obviously has a 2" all those times he doesn't have a 2 himself. Finding bluffs in the 'he's never bluffing' spots and telling the correct story throughout the whole hand is a rare skill. Really enjoyed this one.
@eastyyy223 жыл бұрын
Hey Benjamin, thanks for this! Glad you enjoyed it. The 88 is just one of those hands where we know exactly what's going on but feel like we have to call. I have to say that I think no punt is generous given the thought processes I offer after watching this back. The 53dd Ben describes as the 'ultimate whale level', and while its creative and has a good shot of achieving the result we're after, it's still super questionable. Ben himself is really not a fan of it! Appreciate you watching and giving some feedback.
@ummareli27913 жыл бұрын
poker is ultimately about playing your averages (this is why we don't care when we get AK in preflop and lose to T5o). thus, remarking "We will never see it again and if, by some cosmic fluke..." is useless. there are many reasons not to play a theoretical style, but this is not one of them. to play a theoretical style is not to aim to be unexploitable in some exact spot just in case the same situation were to arise multiple times, but is to aim to be unexploitable in some given spot on average....

The only punt I see is the first hand. Problem with herocalling maniac whales with ace high is that they can show up with some ridiculous bottom pair hand. These guys are the masters of the value bluff, since their strategy is basically "they checked to me, so I'm betting range".
@eastyyy223 жыл бұрын
Yeah we agree on first hand, but not the last one if you're saying no punt haha.
@FefeLeVrai3 жыл бұрын
@@eastyyy22 Yep, I'm saying no punt in the last one. Plug it in a solver, I'm betting on GTO. Maybe not with these specific suits but definitely with 53 hearts or 53 spades. Obviously this would rely on opponent not being a total whale and actually being able to fold an ace.
@BenjaminRaven3 жыл бұрын
I can see why the 53dd looks ok, and actually, having now run it, it isn't the absolute worst. I should be overbetting the turn though rather than x/r, and villain shouldn't really ever be using a 1bb bet ott, so naturally we enter a very dubious node. I guess my line is okish, but let's be honest (and fair to nick), it's still a punt! Especially if it's the first time you've ever seen it haha

I like the 53dd hand fwiw. I dont see how the hand is a punt, we simply have to find some bluffing combos to balance out our quads. This combo seems as good as any. Very good bluff, and a well earned fold otr!

@@eastyyy22 hey mate, no problem! haha yeah i know, these kinda hands can look very punty on the face of it, but when we consider that we need to balance out our value betting range with some bluffs, then it becomes very difficult to visualise 'good' bluffing combos. so i think basically any time we bluff this line, it can look punty haha, simply because our bluffs will basically have no blockers to value and will usually be 6/5 high.

Love the last spot since theres so much nuance involved. I'd imagine if Bena checks river, villain has to check some Ax (or should he bet super high freq?). Also, does Bena have 33 or 54h. I would think 54h but idk about 33 turn raise. Can Bena jam some Ax on river too? If villain tanked with 77, maybe that’d be a good exploit.

Just watching this video, I do not think the last hand was that horrible. I mean it is not just the relevence of 2d being blocked with 53dd which is the best blocker for 2d, the 3d is also very relevant imo. You guys did not really talk about 33 being a better full house now. AA222 < 22333 and we are blocking 33, we are blocking 2d. As far as a better bluff I do not know if you can really find a better one. Also straight flush is on the board, so there is a handfull of combos that do beat an A here, 33, 45h and any 2. If you are gonna bluff, I think this is a sick hand to do it with.

That 88 hand, think i'm preparing a bucket and then just call and immediantly throwing up, knowing that it's always a straight. As You both said, he's a rec. (aggro.) player and after that You said that he knows that You don't have AA and TT. It's pretty obv. for us but for him- even if it's immposible- we can have AA and TT. Reason because is that he is a rec. player so he have no idea that top of our range are 88. It means that he assumed that we can have all the monster hands as long with AA and 1010. The only thing we can do is to choose smaller sizing of raising river (not much smaller), coz we still want to have call by combo of 65 and any other two pairs. With that sizing of raise on the river I think rec. player still gonna have some troubles to call down their lowest two pair's and if we raise a little bit smaller on the river, we might also get 3bet but not a shove and this will clearly show us that they just have the nuts- in long term we're going to lose less money. Still, that procces of thinking is sooo much leveling, witch always comes to that spot where they always have the nuts. After read what i wrote i still making a call and fill my bucket xD "Great content. Keep up the good work"- if you remember what You had on that 10 4 9 (10 and 9 was a fd) board, when i 3bet You pre from SB i would love to get an answer ;p Turn was K and then You bet big, on the flop You raised me
@eastyyy223 жыл бұрын
Hey man! I think prepare bucket > call > throw up is a solid line here! You're right that he doesn't know what the top of our range is here and that's definitely a factor that makes us what to say punt here and fold so much. I think against the specific hand he has, going smaller is fine. But against all his hands, including a lot of 2 pairs we want max value from, it's not as good. I do remember the hand! Was recent if I remember and we were very deep right? I had 99 here, thought you would have checked the stream! What did you have? Thanks for watching!
