Instead of a razor blade you could also use an exacto knife from an office store or some general stores. They come with interchangeable blades and the grippable handle helps avoid being cut

This is a lot different than I was planning on making my puppet ( that I didn't make yet :/) I was just thinking about taking a big plastic sphere that you can get a joian fabrics and cut a hole in the back of the head and cover that with felt but this seems like a wayyyyyyy better idea

I'm dreaming of a furry monster puppet, his name would probably be Schrödinger, after the famous Schrödinger who did a thought experiment about a cat in a box.

Ah yes, Erwin Schrödinger. I guess when making that puppet you would be both making the puppet and NOT making the puppet at the same time ;)

For some advice to others... I am a beginner and Instead of using foam I start off using paper (and pretend its foam; to save $) that way I get/know the exact shape I want when I use the foam.

@imlizzyjo7 жыл бұрын
Hi. I made a puppet head from foam using various sites ideas! I know.. not good! Lol. Now I want to finish with attaching a body. I looked at your online site for patterns. Just want to know if, I bought them. Will I be able to adjust the pattern to fit this head?
@CrashBoomPuppets7 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure. The site I recommend (Project Puppet) has patterns for their particular head and body styles. You could likely make it match your custom made head, but it might take a little bit of massaging to make it work.

Can you use hot glue instead of contact cement
@haileyscott71447 жыл бұрын
the one you just made should be Quasimodo!
@Sam_Jalmanak7 жыл бұрын
For the gluing the puppet skull part, won't it be easier to use hot glue?
@CrashBoomPuppets7 жыл бұрын
Oompa Loompa You can totally use hot glue! I just don't think it holds as well. It can get brittle or melt in a hot environment. (Don't leave your puppet in a hot car!) Also, if any of it will be exposed it creates kind of a rigid seam whereas the contact cement is a little cleaner. Just a preference thing.

When I buy a project puppet pattern do you build the foam skull then add the skin OR sew the skin then add foam in side do you have any tips for inspiration thank you
@CrashBoomPuppets9 жыл бұрын
Chimpokosauce1 You build the puppet skin first. Then the foam skull fits up inside. You can fold it up to fit it through the body sleeve and then use your hand to open it up and get it in place. Best tip I can give is to keep trying new things! There's no wrong way to do it. Thanks for watching.

@CrashBoomPuppets7 жыл бұрын
Hey King Toasty - For the video I went to Joann Fabrics and/or Michael's. But you should be able to get it at any local craft store. It's cheap fleece (whatever they have on sale) and green polyfoam. It doesn't have to be green but all the craft stores around me seem to carry it in that color. Hope that helps!
