Ive been told new puppies cant be put on the ground until they have had all their vaccines, Is this true? How come Ruby is meeting new dogs and being outside on day one here?

Getting them out from day one in a sling and only putting down in select areas will give you and your pup a big head start on the social exposure front. Many behavioural (fear based) problems result from a lack of this early exposure in the socialisation period (up to approx 14 weeks). Thank you.

Do you recommend having the crate in your bedroom for a few nights to settle the puppy?

Some do, but I suggest you keep it out of your room, as it’s one less change you’ll need to make later on.

She is so beautiful! 😍😍😍 But I see she is maybe 8 weeks right? And I have a question 😊 Did she receive all the necessary vaccines? They said to me that they must be in isolation until it is over, even though our home dogs are healthy. 😌

Thanks for the question. Provided she is not being put down in heavily used dog areas, we do begin to socialise from the very outset as the benefits of this far outweigh other risks.

Would you recommend a collar or harness? We were thinking of a small cat harness for our puppy in 3 weeks time.

I have stuck with regular lead and collar. Harneses can be good for pullers to start out with.

Best to see them in person, as cheap Chinese imports can be poorly made with rough edges.

Hi there so does that mean you only feed and water puppy in crate no where else ? So question then is how long do you leave puppy in crate 6 months or longer ? Thank you

How long varies from dog to dog. Once they’re thoroughly clean and dry they can transition out of the crate and I’d usually expect that at 6-9 months. Some keep them in place permanently. You can keep water in another location if you like and begin to feed out of the crate near the point of stopping use of the crate. Don’t worry, it’ll all pan out.

You can continue to do this for as long as you have the crate if you wish as the two can go hand on hand nicely. 👍
