Just want to add to your yard puppy proofing suggestions. My mums puppy was recently hospitalised for mycotoxin poisoning. The fungi (caused by the organic matter decaying in the compost) produces a neurotoxin called tremorgenic mycotoxins. Things to look out for is vomiting, diarrhoea, and tremors. Pup was uncontrollably shivering/shaking. It was terrifying. If you use compost on your garden, you need to be so so careful that your puppy doesn’t consume it. ensure you find a pet friendly compost because this kills pups

Most people in your situation use "deck netting" and weave it through the bars and attach it with zip ties. Seems to work well!

I have a seven month old Karelian bear dog. She is limited to one room. The living room. For the most part she is house broken. She continues to pee on my furniture. What helped us: Enzyme cleaner for spots that they've already marked; and keeping them crated, because they don't want to potty in their own lair (our puppy starts clawing at gates when they need to go).

That depends on your pup. If he plays with it, gulps it or splashes it everywhere you might want to put only a small amount in a bowl and refill it periodically. We don't want to restrict it entirely but you might want to limit it. Other pups are fine with a bowl of water in the pen. No water in the crate, however.
