Purchasing a 2015 Tesla Model S

I bought a 2015 Model S 70 with 85K miles for 25.9. I've had it for about 6 months. It has free super charging and free LTE for life of the car. I've had to replace the drive unit which luckily was under warranty still and the charge port which wasnt under warranty for $400. Other than that it's been really fun to drive and am happy with it!

Recently, I help my parent get a 2015 Tesla and we were able to find a Limited edition P85D+ with excutive seat upgrade and Titanium color full package at 80k mile for $27k because the dealer didn't know much about the car. Best purchase ever and beautiful color too.

Final thing to check with these is the LDU in the rear. You can pull a panel and a speed sensor to see if there has been a seal failure. There are fixes that have come out in the last few months, but its a when, not if, failure.

For lane changes it should have sonar sensors to check for clearance. I would research amd make sure. Loose door panel is probably a plastic clip. Original 85 kwh cars had 77kwh useable capacity. The 60kwh cars had 58.6kwh. I'm not sure if that was increased in 2015. Interesting about the GPS not working. Mine is a 2013 S60 with 169k and I still enjoy driving it. It has everything except the pano sunroof, 21" wheels, 85kwh battery. Roads suck around here so I'm happy with 19s. Solid roof so I dont worry about squeaks or leaks. And 60 model has plenty range for my use even with degradation.

I also recently purchased a MS 60 with pretty much the same spec. It currently has about 145k miles. Are you still on the original motor and drive unit? What kind of repairs if any have you experienced during your years of ownership.

If it says 2G/3G/4G it has the upgraded MCU1, though not the MCU2. There’s of course the LTE symbol on top of the big screen which confirms it.

I have exactly same car for 8 years now and had 130k miles w/o mayor issue just 3 doors handle switches but u can diy easy just upgrade to mcu2 it’s worth every pennys and more efficient auto pilot is very reliable don’t worry it’s better than any cars brand in the market This day!! Service records is in the tesla apps, before transfer ask him to open his tesla apps u will see it under service and history!! Good find I’m 100% sure it’s ride better than a model 3 good luck and enjoy with ur model s!!

I would drive that good ole S and love every minute of it, FSD still is still fidgety yet today but ap1 is a perfectly polished software. If the gps finds itself with a software update I'd keep mcu1 until it needs upgraded for some reason. Benefits are small on a ap1 car. I wouldn't even drive a Tesla if I had to choose a y or 3, too cramped and roller skatey for me as I have had dealership loaners before. And ya you are supposed to glance in a mirror before lane changing but even still I think the prox sensors will protect you. I never change lanes when someone is beside me in my S. I bet he is still loving that car today....

Can Harold's son show you the 'Charge Stats' menu 16:26 on the Tesla app for the Model S as this menu option displays what percentage of charging was home vs. work vs. Supercharger vs. other.

7:35 - Tips from guys before buying the car: 1. Learn **some** of the facts about the car (even tho every fact he could discern about this car was negative, not to mention the vast majority of facts he don’t know about it - meh, details) 2. Obtain warranty info (even tho the car he bought has none) 3. Know literally nothing about Teslas except for the fact the you know, for sure, that you must have one (get a friend/partner who knows 10% of what they need to know, instead) 4. Make sure there’s someone else’s blood on the door (must have this or walk away) Once you’ve confirmed you’re screwed on all that, make sure your bank account is insufficient to support the inevitable financial drain that you’re about to succumb to. Once you’ve confirmed all that, go ahead and sign the dotted line. Congratulations!! 🤪
