Purdue’s Mackey Arena ERUPTS... Leaving Announcers Speechless

Purdue University’s Mackey Arena goes INSANE after an 8 point sequence by Etwuan Moore. So loud the announcers quit talking due to the crowd noise.
This goes to show why Mackey is a Top 5 arena in NCAA basketball, and is one of the toughest, if not THE toughest environments to play in.

Purdue always finds a way to not win the title, at least in men's play. The Rick Mount-Herm Gilliam team was good enough to win. Joe Barry Carroll's team was quite good also. Idk when this game took place and I don’t really care for college basketball but whoever Ohio States coach is should’ve been fired for not taking a timeout when Purdue started getting momentum and the crowd got into it letting Purdue go 3 pointer, steal, tough lay up that put them up, block, 3 pointer without calling a time out when you have all of them is criminally bad coaching I mean one player literally went on an 8-0 run and you didn’t call a timeout right away terrible

This Ohio State team ended up the season 34-3 and was ranked #1 in the final regular season poll. They did get upset in the S16 that year, but that's probably not a fireable offense. And the following year they made it back to the Final Four. But, spoiler alert, the coach did eventually get fired in 2017. If only he'd called that time out 6 years earlier maybe he could have saved his job...

I don't think he was "left speechless." It was more of a case where he recognized, "Less is more," and to let the crowd noise tell the story. Also, he probably figured it was pointless to try to talk while the PA guy was going off the way he was. This is something that Vin Scully was very good at. If you watch the video of Kirk Gibson's World Series Home Run. After he says his famous line, "In a year that has been so improbable, the impossible has happened," he just shuts up for over a minute and lets the picture and the noise of the crowd tell the story. Sometimes it's best to just shut up.
