Joys of living on a narrowboat...! : ) I have the same problem, have to keep emptying a tub of water from under the calorofier expantion outlet thing as featured in this vlog... It's annoying remembering to do it and check it. I need to run a pipe to bilge like you've done, but I'm still learning, so that's a job for a another time! Really love the vlogs. I have a beta marine, and your earlier videos really helped me with my engine and getting to know what's what, etc, with all your engine repair, engine service vlogs. Keep it up Will.

Hi don't run the pipe in to the bilge all you get is a wet bilge do the job properly and fit a skin fitting through the side and the water is pumped overboard end of problem for ever
@Luke-zo6nc3 жыл бұрын
@@bigKDLYes that's ideally what I want. All comes down to dosh. As that's a job for a professional, as if I attempt it I'll sink my boat fitting a skin fitting! Hahahaha 🤣. Joking aside, thanks for the tip. Suppose fitting a pipe to bilge has it's downsides, and something else to keep and eye on. 👍

Rather than grinding off the tiller peg, should it not have been that the tiller shaft is taken up out of the rudder cup in hte skeg and through the old bearing, the old bearing thrown away, and the shaft brought down again through the new bearing, rudder and into the rudder cup in the skeg?

Hi depending on your water pump but some jabso or the like have a small screw on top or under the cover to turn the pressure down a bit so the micro switch turns off at a lower psi. If you also have a accumulator it may need the pressure altering to a few psi lower than the pump.
@NarrowboatWill3 жыл бұрын
Yeah I noticed my pressure tank had to much pressure. It's at 1.5 bar it was about 2.5. I don't know if the pumps adjust themselves do they? I've never touched it. Anyway it's all ok now. Thanks for the info Daniel.
@danielcameron80853 жыл бұрын
@@NarrowboatWill glad it's all ok the pumps are preset to a factory psi but some have a small screw to alter the setting up or down .p.s we did the same trip in April. From Thorne to leeds liverpool canal down the bridge water then down the trent and mersey then the trent . All the best

I know it’s a bit late to comment on the PRV, but if you can put an isolator valve on between the calorifier and the PRV, if you ever need to change it again you can just shut the isolator and change the valve without shutting the water off or draining down.
@NarrowboatWill3 жыл бұрын
That's actually a great idea. Thanks

@michaelgreaves69743 жыл бұрын
Hi, could you plumb the PRV outlet to exit overboard via your bathroom sink skin fitting. Saves having it drain into your bilge and relying on a pump to get rid of it.
@NarrowboatWill3 жыл бұрын
No because it's to high up it needs to be lower than the valve. I'm going to put a skin fitting out the back somewhere. Thanks for thinking about it Micheal.
@michaelgreaves69743 жыл бұрын
Hi Will, as any water being expelled will be under pressure it should have no problem rising to an above waterline skin fitting. Mine exits via a skin fitting shared with the bilge pump. Best of luck anyhow and please keep the videos coming, love watching them.
