Wow. I wasn't expecting Mega Man X mixes, but this sounds awesome. That sprite of Junko looks awesome as well.

Heptahatred Purifox Hepta : greek numeral prefix for "seven" ; seven tail-like flames (of rage presumably) -> Heptahatred Junko's name, 純狐, translates to "pure fox" -> Purifox Very emotional-inducing in some parts. The MMX soundfont makes the theme sound like a last stand song !

To be fair, Junko kinda IS something of a last stand boss fight, considering the context.

BTW, it's *Jouga*, not Chang'e. Don't let any dipshits tell you otherwise.
@korohacker8 жыл бұрын
Who's Jouga though? I really wanna know
@grgspunk8 жыл бұрын
Jouga and Chang'e are the same person. They are two different readings of the same word 「嫦娥」, with "Chang'e" being the Chinese reading and "Jouga" being the Japanese reading. When the translators at the Touhou wiki decided to romanize her name, they went with "Chang'e" because she's rooted in Chinese mythology. However, every piece of official work in the Touhou series, as well as every fanwork on Pixiv/Niconico use the "Jouga" reading. All the raws of the official works that mention this character have 「じょうが」 (Jouga) in furigana written alongside her kanji name, so it's perfectly obvious Zun intended to go with the Japanese reading, not the Chinese reading.
@korohacker8 жыл бұрын
So it's the reverse of the Hong Meiling/Kurenai Misuzu situation. Okay. Though Jouga sounds less refined and a bit masculine than Chang'e
@blara24018 жыл бұрын
I don't see why you'd take it so personally, though. If we're to refer only to Japanese pronunciations, the game we're talking about isn't LoLK, but Touhou Kanjuden ; this is how ZUN calls it, how every Japanese fan calls it, but we use the English part of the title because it's more practical for us. Since Chang'e is just another reading for 嫦娥 (which can, according to the Japanese Wikipedia page on her, also be read as Kouga), why should we be so upset about its usage ?
@grgspunk8 жыл бұрын
It's no more practical to call it either one. It's not a matter of "practicality", it's a matter of integrity. It's about staying as close to ZUN's work as possible--If he had no intention of calling it "Chang'e", who are we to say otherwise? The usage of the English names as an excuse for mispronouncing the name is a red herring--ZUN actually came up with those names, so referring to them as such is not unnacceptable. On the other hand, he had no intention of writing 嫦娥 as "Chang'e" because none of the furigana refer to the name as such. As for why I'd take it personally, you haven't been in the fan translation/scanlation scene, have you?
