Ay that was me in the video! As tired as I was at what was probably 7am, I couldn't help but just sit there and enjoy the moment! This is played, as per tradition, the last time we all share gym before Indy! They want me to come back and help tech so I'll get another chance next year to tour with some amazing people again and sneak in last minute to hear them play this again :D

Drum corps involves touring from school to school to rehearse and play shows, so we have to sleep in high schools for the whole summer. Generally the only part of a high school which is big enough for the whole group to sleep in is the gym.

Absolutely! Originally, Pure Imagination was played in the morning of the corps final day together as a final goodbye to the corps and a tribute to the efforts every member had put forth. In recent times, however, Surf has stayed at hotels in Indianapolis, making that impossible. As a result, it is now played in the last morning we all wake up in a gym. It’s been a thing for a decent chunk of the corps’ history, and all 3000+ members have heard it, but the current arrangement is from 2012. This year, I had the unique privilege to join the small ensemble for this wake-up.
