Hats off to the trumpet section - it’s hard to get that bright beautiful ringing tone without blasting full volume, but these folks did it. It fills me with so much emotion that it’s hard to explain but I wanted this to be a thank you for kids who are in band. Don’t be ashamed to be in band because you make football games and pep rally’s fun. You can make something beautiful and you do, don’t forget that.

Its so nice to see people outside of band appreciate music and the talent behind playing an instrument. When talking to new people I will never mention that I'm in the band because 90% of the time i get shit for it. I feel like most people outside of band are not able to appreciate music the way people who have learned to play and read music do. It warms my heart to see someone understanding that is outside of a band program.

High school marching band isn't supposed to be "formal" where everybody's perfect. When I was in marching band in high school, there were people in the band who were learning a new instrument at the start of the season. You'll be 100% fine, those bands like to foster teamwork and dedication more than being a good player. Yes, chances are you'll find yourself better at clarinet after the season is up, and you'll be learning to be a better player as the time goes, but it's not mandatory for being in the band. Even if you think you won't practice, you'll definitely still learn, improve, and advance from the work. That's a part of learning to be a better musician. There is no "not good enough", trust me. You're always good enough. Now go out there and toot that reed machine on the marching field. (Safely, of course.)

Except for the epic mello runs in the chorus edit: they play that part unproportionally loud in my opinion but coming from a previous mello player I enjoy it

If I ever find a video of the full hornline playing it I'll post it somewhere because this is just a wake up of the veterans of the line playing it! You should hear it with the full pit and everything it's honestly beautiful. I'm so happy with my corps song

my senior marching season got cancelled. watched this and cried :( i’ll miss marching band so much. edit: i wrote this a year ago when i was at one of the worst times of my life but i just wanted to let everybody know my years in band are not over as i got into my dream college’s marching band!
