Ballast Train. I Miss SD 40-2's And Other Older EMD's! That's How Railroading Used To Be, Before Wide Cabs Started Taking Over. EMD SD 40-2, SD 50's & 60's Are Still One Of My Favorite Locomotives By Electro-Motive Division, EMD.

Oh I missed the SD nomenclature. These must be rare. Full HT trucks and Dynamics. Regardless, we have a quartet of GP 38-2's that run the Scenic Sub in Western Washington. One of them is the last SD38-2 that EMD built and took an order for. These 4 locomotives work the 6.6% grade into the Boeing facility in S Everett, or Mukilteo, where the 747 and 787's are built, running rail cars full of airplane parts up the hill from the Seattle Sub on the E side of Puget Sound. I live at MP 1744 on the Scenic Sub at Sunset Falls. We see these great examples of EMD excellent engineering often, but in a field of GE Junkamotives, it is always a treat and something to look forward too.

Swung by the yard today to see if by chance the maroon pair were still together on the E-lead switch, but that was not the case :(. Dave Schauer said they came off Wednesday.

I heard that too...looks like this only lasted a very short amount of time. I'm so glad I went after this when I did!

One of my favorite memories as a kid was seeing the DM&IR bringing ore to the steel plant in Duluth, slowly rolling through the Riverside neighborhood where my grandparents lived. Just above the tracks. There used to be so many that my cousin had a name for my grandmother, Gramma "Choo-Choo"! Very nice and thanks for posting the memories.

Great footage. No. 211 smoking like a steamer! I guess this is the old stamping ground of the mighty DMIR Yellowstones? (Was that SLEET I saw in one shot? Autumn comes early there…)

How did you get sound with your drone?
@SD4575003 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the comment, and watching! I take existing recordings, and match it to the drone, or shoot ground video just for drone sequences.

Nice filming, great drone shots. Like the Messabi livery. I watch Great Lakes videos too, see the same traffic. Is it on its way to here? Greetings from Birmingham UK. 🙂🙂

I'm glad that you enjoyed the video, and thank you for the kind comment! Which traffic are are you curious about? The taconite will get loaded onto ships in the ports, and travel The Great Lakes to various end locations.

The paint scheme of the first two engines reminds me of two engines the EJ& E had. Same paint scheme. Canadian National bought out EJ& E and sold off the engines. Not sure where they are now.

Also nice catch on the Illinois Central. You hardly ever see one of those anymore.
